For the past several years, my yearly visit home has been during the Christmas holiday. This year, Chris and I are changing things up a bit...we've decided to visit St. Louis for Thanksgiving instead.
It has been many, many years since I've been home for Thanksgiving, and I am soooo excited about being there this year! It will be so great visiting with family and friends, maybe playing some games, enjoying some relaxed time together without the bustle of Christmas. There will be some bonding time with my mother as we prepare the big dinner, make the pies...and we will also be meeting my mom's new boyfriend, Randy. Who she has deemed as "the one"...
I think it's going to a wonderful Thanksgiving...
Right now, I am in the process of organizing our time in St. Louis. There are a lot of people to see, some sight-seeing to do, and some down time to factor in. All in 6 short days! But, that's the beauty of it...I create a one page calendar, print it out on cardstock, and go about diligently scheduling the trip. I can then rest easy, knowing that I have found a time to fit it all in...and then it's all just sitting back to enjoy it all.
It makes me a little sad that I only see my family and friends in St. Louis once a year. Unfortunately, right now, we can't really afford to make the 13 hour journey more than once a year. And unfortunately, for the past few years, we haven't had any visitors willing to make the journey down to see us throughout the rest of the year. If I remember correctly, the last visitor I had was oldest friend Amy, and that was when I was still in my apartment over two years ago! I would love to have people in our home, introduce them to Mimi and Foster and Little Man...I guess, for now, I must be satisfied with our yearly visit...

Sounds like its going to be a fantastic thanksgiving. We don't celebrate that here but I was only saying to Dan last night how I'd like to spend christmas at my family's this year. It's hard to chose! Anyway have fun planning it. Will be great to catch up with your friends and family. I hope its a very relaxing time.
Your trip home for Thanksgiving is going to be so much fun. A much needed trip home to see your family! I hope that some of the family will venture down to Texas to see you!! At least if some of them would come once a year to you and you go once a year to them you would get to see them TWICE in one year!
Have a great weekend.
I bet you are excited about Thanksgiving! I know how much you love and miss everyone in St. Louis.
And I PROMISE we'll come out there some day!!!!
Watch what you wish for...been thinking about a trip down but right now timing is everything. Just be read!!!
Can't wait to see you at Thanksgiving. It sounds so sad about you not having visitors. Maybe next spring/summer I can make the trip to Abilene again.
