cards, carols, and TOC

So, I want to know...who else out there has received their first Christmas card in the mail??

November 30th, and today I come home to see a Christmas card sitting on my desk. From my dear friend Marie. #1, it isn't even December yet, so I was surprised to be receiving a card so early. I mean, I'm not even done designing our card!! :) But more importantly #2, Marie is always late, always does things in her own good time, and for her to be FIRST??? I almost fell off my three-inch heels!

And another thing...I certainly am no scrooge, not some big ba-hum-bug. I love Christmas just as much as the next person. But the Christmas carols are already driving me nuts. They are playing in the halls at work, people are walking around singing them, people have decorations that sing the carols at whim! I can tell that in 25 days, I will be ready to strangle someone!!! :) I only really like to listen to Christmas carols when we decorate for Christmas, on Christmas Eve, and on Christmas Day. November 30th is definitely pushing it!!

Okay, so now I have all of that out there! :)

Right now, the big talk in our house is TOC. Otherwise known as Tournament of Champions. At the end of the soccer season, the #1 team in each age division is qualified to attend the TOC in Dallas, where all of the #1 teams battle it out. We had high hopes of making it to TOC this year, but another team beat us out of it. We actually came in third for the season. We've crossed that bridge and have moved on.

TOC is this Saturday. December 3rd. On Monday, the coach of the #1 team (who also happens to be my co-worker) discovered that his team is not able to participate in the tournament because he has too many players on his roster. Since that discovery, that coach, Chris, and every other person involved in soccer has been discussing this like crazy.

Well, if that team can't go, the #2 team needs to be asked, and if they can't go, then we can go! Why did the tournament director place some Dallas team in our division's spot? Does that mean that no one from our division gets to go? On and on and on...

Emails have been flying to this person, that person. Said coach of team #1 contacted the newspaper and a story will likely be running about the drama. Chris, who is the president of our soccer association, sent off a long email to the coordinators of the tournament.

Tonight after dinner, Chris got a phone call and after awhile comes to tell me that we may just be going to TOC after all. !!!! I just can't keep up with all of this! Apparently, his email got them to thinking that it really wasn't fair that no one from our division was being allowed to participate, especially since our association has already paid for someone to be participating. The #2 team will be contacted, and if they are able to get their team/parents organized by this Saturday, they'll be going. If they decide they can't, Chris will have even less time to see if our team is ready and willing.

Better him than me!

If we go, we go...it's not something that I am going to stress over. I had planned to put up all of our Christmas decorations this weekend, but that will just have to be done another time if we go. I am just going to go with the flow! (rare for me, but I'm doing it none the less!)

So...what are YOU doing this weekend?? ha!

I must admit, this is not a conversation that I ever thought YOU would be discussing, but...
HAHAHAHAHA WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!!! Sorry Kelley, I just had to say that considering I am constantly going through dramas such as this with Austin and his whole baseball/soccer/basketball teams!
Get this though, they say it gets worse as the child gets older! I don't know if I can handle it!!! I might have a sports mom melt-down!!!!
