valentine's day

I am totally not a "last minute" kind of girl. I usually have stuff bought way in advance, for holidays and birthdays, etc. Chris, on the other hand, is totally a last minute, nothing planned kind of guy. He must be rubbing off on me! Because I was out this evening with all those other crazy last minute people. Hating every minute of the crowds!

But I managed to get what I needed...

So tell me, how do you celebrate Valentine's Day? Is it a big holiday for you? Is it just another day to you, a holiday made up by Hallmark to sell some cards? Do you buy little gifts? Go all out? Traditional stuff like chocolate and flowers? What do you get your men? It's so hard to buy for men! Dinner out??

I'd love to hear how you're spending the day...and what you receive and what you give...

Make it a day filled with nothing but love!!

It's funny you should talk about being disorganised this year with this. Come 5pm yesterday I had totally forgotten about all things Valentines Day. No card, no present for Dan....which made me feel terrible. I always like to give him his presents first thing in the morning but this year he is going to have to wait til tonight. I ended up buying him a card and making him a gift voucher for inside saying 'this voucher entitles you to a 30minute massage from Amanda.' He always complains that I never give him massages so tonight I'm going all out. I bought oils and creams and a massaging thingy! haha. That's all I could think of this year. His present to me was our weekend away just passed. P.s I love ur layouts. They look amazing :)

Its "I do not have to cook cuz I get a nice dinner out in a reasonably up-scale restaurant" day...Oh, and its also "he never buys a card" day...so, the dinner - thats a plus...I consider it a beautiful compromise - I get to have a gorgeous dinner in a restaurant I wouldn't normally eat in at an outrageous Valentines day price and I forgive him that he doesn't buy me cards...

I actually didn't wait to the last minute this time! I am very proud of myself, but as of late (oh the past 5 years) I seem to be the last minute type person with things like this.

We typically don't do a lot for Valentine's Day. Gary has said in the past that he doesn't want a day that he "has to" show me he loves me, he feels like he does it every day and he would rather SURPRISE me another day of the year instead of on Valentines that is so public.

Today I gave Gary a card and a Dove chocolate rose. It was difficult to figure something out that didn't involve chocolate (since he isn't eating candy right now). He gave me a very sweet card. We wont get to have dinner together because he will be at work. But I guess we will just make up for it another day. :)

Well, we typically just do cards and maybe some little something else. Often he's given me a "coupon" to buy plants/flowers to plant in the yard when spring comes, something like that.

We'll just spend the evening as usual, hanging out and enjoying being a family of three. And see what odd behavior Ashleigh comes up with tonight! (Last night was screaming for no apparent reason. Joy.)
