productive weekend

This Saturday and Sunday, Chris, Aspen, and I headed to Fredericksburg to get some stuff in line for our wedding in August. It was a pretty productive weekend, I think...

We left on Saturday after lunch. A two and a half hour drive. Got to Fredericksburg in time to do a little shopping on Main Street, so that was nice. Our two meetings were on Sunday, so Saturday was just for fun. We had dinner at our favorite brewery, and then stopped for ice cream. By that time, it was about 8:00, and we decided to find a hotel for the evening.

Here begins the hour and a half frantic search for a room. We've never had any trouble just driving in and getting a room without a reservation. Saturday night, every single room in the town was taken. Not one available anywhere. Finally, we were told that the Visitor's Bureau was sending everyone to Kerrville, which was 30 minutes away and had lots of hotels. So, we made the trek out there in hopes of getting a room.

The first two hotels were a bust. I was really beginning to worry. The last hotel told us of ONE hotel in the town that had rooms left, so we hurried over there. Luckily, we were able to get a room there. And though it looked kind of ritzy and we thought it would cost an arm and a leg, it was cheaper than many of the other ones! Plus it had a good continental breakfast too!

Sunday, we had to get up extra early because we had to drive the 30 miles back into Fredericksburg. We had an appointment with the caterer at 9:30, and we really liked them. A husband and wife team, and we were even able to do the wedding cake and groom cake with them. That made me very happy, since none of the bakeries were able to meet with us this weekend. Now that is take care of too. Our second appointment was with our location, the Trois Estate. We got to look in the bed and breakfast rooms, and choose the one we wanted. We met with the owner and discussed a lot of things, and figured some stuff out. So things are well under way.

Really, all we lack now is flowers and music. And I need to get started on designing our invitations. Moving right along...
