finished harry potter

MOM AND RANDY ARE HERE!! Enjoying our visit so far!!!

Now...I have finished Harry Potter...really thought it was a great book. 800 pages of solid action and good reading. The ending was good, but a few things confused me. Maybe some reader out there can help explain to me?

#1, in King's Cross, what was that odd crying thing in the background? I looked on a few discussion boards, and it seems like there's a debate whether it was the part of Voldy's soul that was attached to Harry, or if it was what was left of Voldy's soul that was in limbo between life and death?

#2, please tell me how Draco's wand was the Elder Wand??????? This made absolutely NO sense to me. This is driving me crazy trying to figure it out!!!

Hi...I'm Jake, Kris' husband...we're coming to shoot your wedding this weekend (that sounds more menacing that it's meant to).

I am reading Deathly Hallows for the second time and think I can answer your questions definitively (I'm a pretty big Harry Potter geek):

1. The crying thing at King's Cross was indeed the fragment of Voldemort's soul that had inhabited Harry. Because Harry posessed the three Deathly Hallows, he conquered death...but the Avada Kadavre curse killed Voldemort's soul piece.

2. Draco's wand was not the Elder Wand. It goes a little something like this: In Half-Blood Prince, Draco defeated Dumbledore, therefore the Elder Wand recognized him as its new owner (meaning that, though unbeknownst to him, he now owned two wands). However, the Elder Wand was entomed with Dumbledore. When Harry defeated Malfoy and got his wand, he also got the allegiance of the Elder Wand, since it too belonged (technically) to Draco.

I hope that cleared things up for you. If you have any more questions you can just go to my blog (which should be linked with my name here, or you can find it on Kris' blog) and you can find my email address in the sidebar (lower right).

I love talking Harry Potter.

All was well.
