first day back to "normal"

:: Was definitely a chore today, getting up at the crack of dawn again and dragging myself back into the workplace!!!! After sleeping until 10:00 (or later) for 4 days straight and being lazy, what a rude awakening! It took awhile to get back into the swing of things but that's ok. Tomorrow's another day.

:: Took the above photo on New Year's Day...Chris and I had gone to the track to run, and I was so bummed that I didn't take the camera. #1, Chris was zooming along so fast and I was so impressed! I need to be practicing so I'm good at photographing him running at the Boston Marathon. But #2, we were there right as the 5:00 golden light was coming down, and I absolutely love that lighting. Everything in the world looks glorious. So, as soon as I got home, I grabbed the camera and headed back out to snap off a few pics of the last remaining rays of gold. The one above was right after the sun had dipped below the horizon...mmm...

:: This was a little gem I found up in the mesquite trees. I only had a good 4 minutes of light left, and couldn't believe that I found this there. Yes, I'm obsessed. Forgive me.

:: Today was my first walk with Kim in FOREVER!!!!!!! I was so excited for it. We determined that our schedules have slowed down just enough that we can fit in one day of walking together again. Boy have I missed it. That time just flies, I couldn't believe it when we had done three laps. We were just talking away and laughing and Ocho was there right beside us. And Kim did so great, I was proud of her! She never slowed down, and she was doing lots of talking and wasn't too winded at all. I think the main thing was that it's a bit chilly here...but oh so worth it! I have this to look forward to every week now. Have you ever had the fortune of having someone in your life who you just 100% can be yourself with??? It's a true luxury, my friends.

:: Had a great customer service experience today. For Christmas, I had ordered Chris a bonzai tree from Red Envelope...he's been wanting one for the longest time. It arrived in not the greatest shape, and then by the day after Christmas, it was dry and brittle and dead. I called this morning about how to return it and get another one, and she told me to throw it away, and she'd have another one shipped out to me. That regular ground delivery may be too long, and she would send it 2 day air. Well!! I wasn't expecting all that, and was happy about the outcome. This makes TWO great customer service experiences in the past month, and surely that is an odd thing!!! The other one was also concerning a Christmas gift for Chris. I found the neatest marathon t-shirt for Chris on the Cafe Press website. Got him a Medium. When it arrived, it was pretty big. And my man has been losing weight from all his running. So, I called to find out how to return it and get a Small. They told me to keep the Medium, and they would also send me a Small. Enjoy them both, on them. Well!!

:: I could ruin those stories by saying that I am STILL waiting on the Budget Blinds guy to get his head out of his ass and start running his company properly. But, I want to savor my victories for a bit instead...

:: I'm going to sign off for now...I need to work up an estimate for some custom scrapbooking that may be on the horizon for me. And wedding scrapbooks at that!!
