We had a fun evening at the concert last night, overall...
It started off with dinner at 6:00...catered by Sharon Allen's, we had huge steaks (which were actually pretty tasty this time, though not to Chris who doesn't like steak), salad, red potatoes, jalapeno creamed corn, homemade bread. As people continued to trickle in, it became apparent that they did not have enough tables set up. For awhile, it got a bit hairy with people looking for places to sit down and eat. Originally, the dinner was to be Saturday night and the concert was to be Sunday night (outdoors). But because of the weather following Ike, they combined the dinner and concert in one evening, and moved it to the Civic Center. I don't think they had any idea that the crowd would be so massive. Not the best planning, to say the least.
After eating, there was a live auction that took about an hour. They auctioned off a bunch of items and some of it was entertaining, with the auctioneer's fast talking. Once that was finally over, they gave everyone a 15 minute intermission. Then came back after the intermission with a few more auction items!
Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton were supposed to come on at 8:00...I guess it was probably about 8:50 before they came on. The show ended a little after 10:00...
For those of you that don't know, Miranda and Blake are dating, and they were cute together. Playful and fun. She would sing a song, then he would try to outdo her. Back and forth. They sounded great live, in the acoustic setting. We enjoyed the concert and are grateful to our company for providing us the opportunity to attend...
