And it did. We trudged out of bed and made our way to the start line around 6:00. Got there around 6:30 so he could get registered for the half, and then waited for the race to begin at 7:30.
IT WAS FREEZING AND SUPER WINDY.
After enjoying some weather throughout the week that reached 90 degrees (yes, 90!!!), the 30 degree weather was a definite shock to the system. And the wind was horrible. Did not make for a very fun spectator OR runner experience.

Pre-race, brrrrr...
Like a trooper, Chris took off with the pack...

He ran a good time, 1 hour and 26 minutes. His realistic goal was 1 hour and 24 minutes, so with the wind we thought his time was pretty good. He ended up coming in 39th out of over 4000 runners in the half marathon. Not a bad performance at all...

His strong finish at the finish line...
We kind of enjoyed the half instead of the whole marathon...he got finished a lot earlier, and left us with a lot more time to enjoy our day. Plus, he wasn't completely dead. He's thinking of doing a few more halfs in the near future...
I am very proud of him, as always...his motivation and his drive are a marvel to me. It makes me proud to cheer for him as he runs by. That's my man!!
After not having much to blog about for awhile, I finally have a few things worthy of sharing. In the next few days, expect to see an additional post from our trip to Ft. Worth, of all the things we saw after the marathon. I will also be posting about Aspen's first 7th grade track meet. And if photos come in I will also post about Aspen's indoor track meet against high school girls...so check back in this week! :)
