damn airlines

Arghgh.

The airlines need some major help. MAJOR help.

I feel so bad for Mimi...she's been stuck in an airport all day long. Her flight out of Abilene this morning was supposed to leave at 9:30. Got pushed to 2:00 due to weather. Which, of course, made her miss her connecting flight. Which begins a whole sequence of drama, trying to get onto another flight.

She was only able to get on standby for the one last flight going down to Florida, and unfortunately she did not make it. There were not enough empty seats for her.

Which means she is stuck in the airport for the night. With nothing but her purse and a tiny carry on bag with her medication and a handheld Yahtzee game.

This poor woman. She never does anything like this. She never goes anywhere. She goes to work and comes home to her room, and this was a huge step for her. Traveling alone. Going to visit her friend. Now, a day of her vacation has been wasted in a freaking airport with tons of stress.

After many phone calls and Chris looking online at flights, she finally has a FOR SURE seat (not stand by) on a 6:45 flight in the morning. She'll fly to St. Louis and then to Florida from there. She'll get there around 4:25, assuming that all goes smoothely.

Why has air travel become such a huge hassle? A big time waste? Nothing ever goes as planned, and you end up getting totally screwed. Isn't there a better way???

Please keep Mimi in your thoughts, as she'll be sleeping on a cot tonight...and hopefully will arrive in Florida tomorrow so she can get her fun started...
