house

So, we put an offer on that house...and waited quite a bit to hear back from the seller. Finally our realtor called to tell us...the seller had countered, with the exact same asking price they started with. They didn't come down a single cent!

Chris and I took our break and chatted about our options. We decided that there is a very strong possibility that this couple doesn't really want to sell their house. Their circumstances aren't good, and this was their dream house. Understandable. We decided we could either a) take the fact that they weren't willing to come down at all as a sign to just say we were done or b) offer the amount that we said we would not go over as our "final" offer and see what they say.

Our realtor contacted them this afternoon and gave her our final offer. Explained that it might be difficult to give up the house, but to keep paying a mortgage when they aren't even living in the house has got to be killing them financially. She's going to speak with her husband and we shall see what their verdict is.

It will either be a no, and that will be that. Or they will accept our price and we'll move forward with trying to get ours sold. There will be no more countering.

It will be sad if we don't get this house. We all love it, and it truly feels like home. I guess if nothing else, we have discovered that we don't want to be in a neighborhood, but want some land around us. Not that there are really that many houses matching that description!

Going with the flow here...simply waiting to hear the verdict. Guess we shall see...
