busy weekend

:: Friday afternoon, we discovered that one of Chris' cousins committed suicide...so tragic. The memorial will be held on Tuesday in Dallas. Mimi is hoping to head that way with her sister on Monday. Suicide is such a slippery slope, and brings about so many questions. I pray that God blesses his family with peace.

:: Friday evening, Aspen got home from youth camp and was full of stories. Seems like she really had a great week. The theme this year was "Turn", and focused on discovering the things in your life that you need to turn from. We pray that Aspen takes that message to heart beginning now, and makes some much needed changes in her life.

:: We had a brief celebration at work on Friday, at 4:55 -- we toasted the successful transition to the new Gias system, and Chris was able to saber one of the bottles...fun! They had champagne, cheese, crackers, fruit and chips. It was a nice moment for our company.

:: Later that evening, the three of us met Scott, Kristie and their daughter Ryeli at Casa for dinner. We enjoyed our time with them and hope to do it again in the future. Scott is in Chris' department. From there, we browsed Target for a bit and saw some friends there. Then headed to a nearby apartment complex to visit a friend who was in the middle of moving.

:: Saturday, I worked on finalizing our itinerary for our upcoming trip to Napa! There are still a few things left to be decided, but it is shaping up to be an amazing trip!!!! Should be lots of amazing food, wonderful winery tours and wine, and horseback riding through a vineyard! I also made the grocery list and watched SYTYCD. I'm not sure why, but I am not "feeling it" yet with this season. Aspen spent the day at Mimi's beauty school getting her nails done, a facial, and she got her hair cut too. It's very cute, about shoulder length with layers. I'll try to get a photo of it when she's home.

:: Saturday evening, we dropped Aspen off at her friend's house to spend the night. Then headed to Chiles to have dinner with Kyle and Kelsey. We had a great time together...love those two! They are expecting their first baby, and we are thrilled for them!!

:: Sunday, Aspen went to the Rangers baseball game with her friend's family...after church, Chris and I had lunch at Subway and then took care of the grocery shopping. I've been trying to get some things together for our trip -- picking out clothes, setting aside snacks and travel reading (gotta have lots of magazine for the plane!!). Doing some laundry. Watching some Olympics.

:: We'll be working Monday and Tuesday this week and then we are on vacation!!! :) So ready! Our flight leaves Abilene at 6:55 a.m. Wednesday morning and we return Sunday evening. I'll be posting when I can along the way, so be sure to check in :)
