details - my 38th!

Tonight, I am here to tell you about my birthday! :)

Before I start, today was the weigh-in for the weight loss challenge we were doing at the hospital. The way it works is that the team with the biggest PERCENTAGE of combined body weight lost will be the winner. Beyond that they are also giving a prize to the man and the woman individually who had the biggest percentage. The prizes are cash. We paid $10 to be a part of the contest and all the money collected will be divided out into the prizes. I was excited to see that my total lost during the length of the program is 12 pounds!!! Yippie!!!!!!!!! For me, that comes to 8.33% body weight gone! That should help the team. Not sure what our other two team members are contributing but I believe Kim should be at about 4%! We'll see how the team does. And then you really just don't know at the individual level. So we shall see. They will be emailing the results/winners soon. Fingers crossed!

Okay, now onto my 38th birthday! I wanted to do something different this year, since I have switched over to the healthy lifestyle. I chose to have my birthday dinner at Red Robin! They have really great salads there, and I enjoyed the Avo-Cobbo salad :) With sweet potato fries! The four of us enjoyed our meal, and then headed home for gifts and cake.

I did allow myself a piece of the delicious ice cream cake that they presented to me!! And oh my, was it yummmmmy! It was a gorgeous cake with white icing and pink/green decorations...then had a chocolate ice cream layer and a vanilla ice layer, divided by the heavenly cookie crumble layer (my favorite). I savored every single bite! Yum.

The one thing I really, really wanted was a GOOD kitchen knife!!! Mimi presented me with three goodies -- a great knife, a great paring knife, and great kitchen shears!!! It is a whole new world using these bad boys.

My mom and Randy sent along this adorable owl to help me celebrate my special day! Love it!!!

Aspen bought me a precious shirt from Victoria's Secret that has a ton of sequins on it...I wore it to work last Friday and I received so many compliments! I was a walking disco ball. :)

Mimi also gave me this cute apron! My apron collection is growing and this is one of my faves...the ruffle is adorable! I need to figure out where to hang them...

Oh and that cake...looooook at that cookie layer!!! Nom nom nom!

It was a really fantastic day. My sweet friend Kathy brought me white roses and blue daisies for my desk...my department gave me a gift card to Bed, Bath & Beyond (I combined that with my birthday money from my grandparents and bought a food processor!!!!)...sweet Kim gifted some great books and an adorable plaque...and there were a few other odds and ends from other wonderful people.

Now I just wait for the gorgeous ring we purchased on our cruise...so technically, my birthday could last a few more weeks :) ha!!
