part of our weekend

Hi there!! We had such a full, blessed weekend here! It was Aspen's high school graduation and we had a great visit with my Mom and Randy :) So, there is a lot to post about -- and Mom and Randy are still here, so I'll be enjoying our last evening together. For tonight, I will post a few random things and then this coming week, I will get into the meaty topics!!

First off -- Friday, May 30th, Mimi officially retired from the Texas Cosmetology school -- she felt the time had come for a number of reasons, and so they sent her off with food and fan fare! We gave her these pretty flowers when she got home, and her students gave her many gifts that day. The most creative were: a board filled with candy, with a fun written sentence revolving around them; and a basket full of fun, patterned socks, which Mimi loves...she felt very loved when the day was over. And now she is free! We'll see what her next chapter holds...congrats Mimi!

Mom and Randy arrived Thursday evening (5-29) around 6:00...after they unloaded all their goodies, we exchanged some gifts! They gave us an early 7th anniversary gift (an adorable copper bird feeder!!) and Chris an early birthday gift (yummy coffee beans!). We gave mom her belated Mother's Day gift (a cute Vera Bradley purse!). Fun all around!!

On Friday morning, Mom, Aspen and I headed up to the office to pick up the cupcakes my coworker Allison made for the graduation lunch. While there, Mom was able to visit with the folks in my department, and also was able to go see her favorite person -- Ruben!!! They chatted for a bit and were all smiles...

Also on Friday, Aspen received her official letter of acceptance to Cisco College!!! Now to talk with a counselor, get scheduled for classes, etc...lots to do!! Our girl is officially a college student now!

While we waited for lunch guests to begin arriving on Friday, Mom worked on teaching Aspen how to play rummy! Her first time. She was beginning to pick up the concept a bit :) Mom went easy on her.

 Mom and I have also played our fair share of rummy too -- adding to our ongoing score that that we started in 1995!! She continues to skunk me...

We are about to head to our last dinner together, before they head home in the morning...also dropping Aspen off at 9:00 tomorrow morning to leave for youth camp...lots happening! More when I can...
