Today I wanted to catch up with photos from my trip to San Diego!!
My boss, Jeff, and I went to San Diego for the DMA Convention -- Direct Marketing Association. We went last year (it was in Chicago)...we were excited to go to San Diego this year. I had never been there before!! We left on Sunday, 10-26-14, at 9:30 am.

Jeff and I on the plane from Dallas to San Diego -- our first flight (Abilene to Dallas) was uneventful, but our second flight was delayed for three hours. They could not get the cargo door open, and therefore couldn't load the luggage. Finally they got it open and loaded us up. But then they couldn't get it to close. Oi! They let people off the plane if they wanted, but I got a lot of reading done in my new book -- Dark Places, by the author of Gone Girl. :) |

We stayed at The Bristol Hotel, and it was beautiful! It was originally built in the 60s, but was remodeled about 5 years ago. It was a very nice way to spend a few nights! |
Sunday evening, once we got settled in, we found some pizza in the Gaslamp District, and then headed to see the Broadway show Jersey Boys -- it was so great! Jeff and I really enjoyed it! The story was about The Four Seasons, and it was an interesting story for sure! |
The San Diego Civic Theatre had a beautiful, vintage chandelier that I just loved! |
San Diego is a big Navy city, and I loved this huge sculpture of a navy ship ripping through the water. |
Monday morning, 10-27, we headed to the Convention Center for our first day of sessions. We had two sessions each, each day. We also had a meeting with a vendor that was on the Expo floor. |

The Convention Center was right on the water, with amazing views! All those boats and yachts! The weather there was incredible -- no wind, 80 degrees, sunny, no clouds. Perfect! The whole time we were there. Loved it! |
The keynote speaker for the first day was NBA player Magic Johnson!! Jeff and I were excited to hear him speak, and he was quite dynamic! He also let tons of people take photos of him, which I thought was fantastic! |
That first evening, we went to Old Town for dinner at Cafe Coyote -- very yummy Mexican food! Loved this bright blue building we passed on our way there. Jeff decided we would take the subway, and we ended up getting on the wrong train...so we were headed to Tiajuna! Whoops! We got that all fixed up and made it there safely...and then took a taxi home :) Public transportation confuses the heck out of me! |
The second evening, after a good day of sessions, we headed to the Boardwalk and took a stroll. The sunset was beautiful with all the boats. Gorgeous city! |
We decided on dinner at Sally's, which had sushi for me and surf/turf for Jeff -- it was super delicious! I had a rainbow roll, and a blueberry mojito...yum yum! |
On our last morning, Wednesday 10-29, we had one last session and then we made our way to the airport. We had some yummy California Pizza Kitchen pizza for lunch, and McDonalds for dinner later. All of our flights were, thankfully, uneventful and on time!! I told Jeff we needed one last selfie -- I think he was ready to be done with me :) We got home around 9:00 and I was so happy to see my hubby!!!! |
It was a great trip, I loved San Diego! I would love to go back someday and explore a lot more. The conference was good -- we learned some good things, and think we might look into a different conference for next year. Try a different organization perhaps. We shall see!!
