So, some of you know me, some of you don't. Here's a little insight into me.
I don't like being overwhelmed with a lot of things "to do"...and right now, as our trip to Tahiti approaches, both work AND home are filling up with a ton of things "to do". Nothing big, nothing major. A lot of little things, really. But, the more that gets added to my list, the more I feel my sanity slipping away.
So, I have about 4 lists at the moment. And today at lunch, in an attempt to get a grip on my anxiety, I will be making another list. A "master list" if you will. I want to write down, day by day until the day we leave for the trip, exactly what I'm going to do. That way I can distribute everything from the other lists to specific days and make sure there is enough time for it all to get accomplished.
Because right now, I feel like nothing is getting accomplished. And that makes me antsy, when my "to do" list is so long.
I hate feeling antsy, like I'm going to jump out of my skin. Hate it. This list will help me because I will no longer have a black void of things that need to get done. I will have a plan of how to get it all done, and will only need to think about those things for the day.
I'm sure all you people out there who don't make lists find this very odd. I know Chris thinks I'm so silly!!! Another list?! That's me. I like organization and order and plans. Makes me feel grounded.
Off I go...

YOU GET THAT FROM YOU MOTHER!
Baby, you crack me up! I bet one of the items on your list is "1. Make a list of things to do".
If you would spend more time actually getting things done and less time making lists of things that need to be done, just think of the progress and satisfaction that would follow.
Be more like me and just "wing it". It hasn't failed me yet. Lists are evil and whoever invented them, well, they should be hung by their toes.
Chris, you are a nut! And no, for the record, "Make a list of things to do" isn't even on my list! SO there! :)
You don't understand the satisfaction that comes from scratching things OFF your list when you get them done! I will never just wing it! I can't handle that...
:)
OK, Kelley I totally get it. But one of my goals in life is to not have so much to do that I NEED a list! : ) Especially when going on a trip. But I think men aren't usually big list makes because they usually have WOMEN doing all the stuff! ; )
But I make them pretty often. Of course, I find myself more and more making lists of things I need to take with me places. ESPECIALLY since I went on an outing with the baby and NO wipes. Not good. At least we haven't forgotten her yet.
You just make lists to your heart's content....
Oh Phooey on Chris. I say make all the list you need if that is what makes you feel better. I am a list maker as well and Gary gives me grief about it as well, but then he will ask "Where's the list?" so, I know he depends on them as much as I do. lol
You will get the things on that list marked off soon and all will be well on your vacation!
Then when your ON the vacation take time and "wing it" like Chris says and just do things as they come!
See, that is the best of both worlds right? LOL
Kim
List maker right here! I find that sitting down w/ a cup of joe to make my lists is a bad thing though...caffeine isin't the best cure for anxiety, lol!
