blogger option

I wanted to bring up this option, for one reason really...

I have my blog set up so that I receive an email when someone comments on my blog. I like this because 1) if someone comments on an older post, I know about it without having to scroll through the whole blog periodically and more importantly 2) I can respond directly to a person who's made a comment by simply replying to the email.

In theory, that is.

The idea of carrying on the conversation, or thanking someone for what they've said, is something that I would love to do. I feel like a lot of times, comments just are left open-ended. However, when I try to reply to most comments, they are directed to a "no reply" unknown email address. My comments to other blogs used to be the same way, until I changed a setting in my blog. Now, someone can reply to a comment I make, because my email address pops up. So I bring it up, in case you are interested in furthering communication with anyone you leave comments with.

If you'd rather not have anyone reply to your comments, just ignore this next part!

1. When you are logged into your blog, click on the Change Setting icon.

2. Click on the Comments tab.

3. Scroll down until you get to the Comment Notification Address blank. Here you will put your email address.

Voila! It's that easy.

This will allow people to reply to your comments. Please note that it will ALSO start emailing you all comments left to your own posts. That is maybe not something that you want happening.

That's my FYI for the day :)

I think I'm going to give that a try too. If I don't like it, I can always change it back! Thanks for the info!

On another note, I've now been spammed! Blah. And it wasn't by an "anonymous" user either, darn it!

LOVE this feature!! Mine wasn't sending me message for a couple of days and I thought I would go nuts! *laugh*

I really like the idea of the email address isntead of "noreply" I would love to spend a reply to a poster from time to time, but don't have an email address.

I didn't know you could change the no reply! Thanks for explaining it, I'll have to change it up when I get home. :D

AHA! Thanks, Kim, for the head's up on the profile pics. I accidentally turned it off in my settings, while I was tooling around in there.

Now we're back to normal!
