So.........
As I was cleaning our house over the weekend, I came upon the stack of books that continues to grow by my side of the bed.
I am really enjoying reading again, but I don't like library books. I have some sort of aversion to them. So, I buy books, read them, and then they sit. Never to be used again. So, my wheels began turning. Couldn't a bunch of readers get together, and share their books? Swap their books?
I'm not sure who would be interested, but that is the purpose of this post. I am proposing an ongoing Book Swap. Whoever is interested will hopefully let me know, and we will form a group. Each member would have a list of books (continually updated) that they have available for swapping, and all other members can browse through these lists for any books they might like to read. It would be a "one book for one book" swap kind of thing. It would involve the cost of shipping the book to the person, but this cost should be much much less than actually buying a new book. I am working out the specific details, but right now I just want to know...
Who would be interested in being a part of this?
Leave me a comment with your email address if you want to be a part of this, or even if you just want to hear more about it before deciding. I will send you an email with all the details when I have it worked out.

I think this is a fantastic idea. I also avoid library books, don't know why since they are free... Let me know more details but I am always looking for great books to read!
This sounds like an interesting idea Kelley! I tend to only buy romance novels (Nora Robets, etc.) so I am not sure if those would be of any interest to anyone.
I do know that you can ship books by "media mail" and they ship a lot cheaper as well if that helps anyone!
I followed a comment you made on MCC's blog. I am interested too, please keep me posted :) I am the same way, I'd much rather buy the book than borrow from the library and have a few stacks I'd love to share.
Kelly -
I am SO in!! What a fabulous idea. I also have the library book avension abd have stacks of books.
Just an idea...we can all send our book USP media mail - it takes a little longer but is cheaper.

Duh...I just read Kim's post - she already suggested media mail. ;)
sounds great. wish i could be in too! but i live in oz. haha. So i dont think it would work....has anyone read a book called the lovely bones??? it is a great read. Of course the da vinci code too. If u havent read it ur mad!
OK, don't know if I'm just a total dork or if it's because I AM poor, but I'm all about the library. Then there's the whole space issue. I just don't want all those books cluttering up my house when I'm through reading them. I do still buy them sometimes though. I'm definitely interested! Let me know more when you figure out the details.
This is a great idea, but I'm in Canada and the postage rates for me are mucho expensivo by parcel post. We don't have media mail and they won't let it go through letter :( Hope you gals enjoy your book sharing though!
I would definitely be inserested! I have SO MANY books it would be great to share!
I would love to be involved! I'm a huge reader -- mostly mysteries, but I'm open to any great book.
Colleen: if you would like to take part, I'll need your email address...just let me know!
What a great idea! I read about this on Melissa C blog. Would love to be updated with more details.
