Growing up in Missouri, I enjoyed a lot of autumns...the cool, crisp weather, the sweaters, the pumpkin patches, the apple picking. Taking color drives to see the glorious colors of the fall leaves. Being young, and not knowing any different, all of these things were taken for granted. When I moved out of Missouri and into the south, I realized that the autumn season isn't the same. It's very short, and sometimes goes straight from hot hot hot summer to chilly winter. And I realize that the people here have never experienced a fall like I have...that makes me sad!!

This is a picture of me at a pumpkin patch in Missouri...rows and rows of pumpkins of all sizes, different shaped ghords, cute little displays made from the pumpkins. There's something so much more "authentic" about picking out your pumpkin from a place like this, instead of a grocery store...

And here I am apple picking. This is Rory, an old family friend, and from the look on my face, I'm not too impressed with the apples he's picked! I think it's such a neat thing, being able to search through the trees to find the apples you want. Something so real. I was so excited, because I thought Chris and I would be able to go while we're home for Thanksgiving this year, but my mom assures me that it will be closed by then... :(
What things make YOU think of autumn?

Love the Way Back Wednesday pictures!! I think us Texans ARE missing out on a lot of great Autumn traditions! Glad you have the memories though. :)
Well, I love it when the leaves change colors....and those 3-5 days when the air is crisp and cool in an invigorating way--not a freezing to death way. ; )
Your pumpkins are cool too. I might try that next year!
