Part One: Pre-movie...
So, tonight is Movie Night with the girls from work, we're seeing Elizabethtown...I'm looking very forward to it. There should be about 5 or 6 of us there tonight...it will be fun to spend a night out with the girls, and to see a "chick flick"...I love seeing chick flicks with other girls, there's no reason to feel bad for subjecting them to something they're just tolerating...because we all know that men just tolerate these movies! :)
I'm also looking forward to Movie Theater Popcorn with Lots of Butter...oh my goodness, yum! That's probably the best reason to go to the movies, isn't it?? A good excuse to skip dinner and just have some good old fashioned junk. I'm in!!
Part Two: Critique on Elizabethtown...
Well, I enjoyed the movie. I certainly don't think all of the awful reviews were right. There were a lot of good points to the movie. Yes, it was a bit slow in parts. Yes, Kirsten Dunst's character was highly annoying for the first half of the movie. I loved the road trip part of the movie though...it really touched me on a lot of different levels. This was the last 1/3 of the movie, and he's on the way home from his father's funeral in Kentucky. Claire has made him this awesome roadtrip scrapbook thing, telling him where to go, giving him specific music to listen to the whole way, telling him where to stop and what to see and etc. That whole concept was pretty cool. And the range of emotions he went through on the trip was great to see...coming to grips with his father's death...realizing that the life he was leading was all wrong for him and that he could choose to start over with a new life...realizing that work is just work, and that the most important thing is the people in your life.
This was also the first film where I've seen Orlando Bloom being a normal character. The only other movies I've seen him in were Lord of the Rings where he was an elf, and Pirates of the Carribean, which is a period piece and doesn't count. He's an interesting guy. Has a realness about him. I liked him in his character, and that made up for not liking Kirsten's character for awhile!
Worth seeing...

Glad you had a girls movie night, and hope you had loads of very buttery popcorn!
I went to see it with Lee and he fell asleep and made me promise never to make him watch it again. I thought it was alright.
Glad you had fun with the girls :D
