nine days

The countdown is in the single digits now!

In nine short days, Chris and I will be pulling into St. Louis for our week of Thanksgiving visiting. Woo hoo! When we first started planning this trip, it felt like it would never get here, and now it is nearly upon us! We will be there NEXT Saturday! I will be hugging my mom NEXT Saturday!

I'm looking forward to the 13 hour drive, and I'm not. It is going to be really nice to have Chris all to myself for 13 whole hours...I love connecting with him in that way. Thirteen hours is a long time in a car though, and Chris is the kind of guy who likes to do all the driving...so it will take a bit of persuading for me to get him to let me take over for a bit to give him some rest. It does make me feel better that I'll be driving the whole week we're in St. Louis, since I know my way around that crazy city. So he'll get a break before we have to drive home!!

I can't wait to see family and friends that I haven't seen since last Christmas. Not quite a year yet, but feels like forever. I'm looking forward to making pies with my mom and helping her make Thanksgiving dinner...I'm looking forward to showing Chris how we've always done Thanksgiving...I'm looking forward to meeting Randy, my mom's new love...

It's a strange thing, going "home"...Texas is my home now, but St. Louis will always be my "home"...driving back into that city makes me feel like I am surrounded by people that I love...people that have known me from the day I was born...it's a good feeling...

St. Louis, here we come! All that stands between us now is a week of last minute details and packing...oh yeah, and a 13 hour drive! :)
