be merry
Merry Christmas to everyone!
A general recap of our holiday: our tradition is to open our gifts to one another on Christmas Eve...so, I made a hodge podge of snacks, we chowed down, and then we set to opening our gifts. We all received lots of goodies, we are all quite lucky. Especially Ms. Aspen...and yes, as you can see in the photo above, the cherished red cap was worn the entire weekend, even during Christmas photos! :)
As Aspen was tooling around the cul-de-sac on her brand new bike, I answered a phone call...from Santa Claus!! I hollared out the door, "Aspen, Santa is on the phone!" and that girl came running!! Quite a sight to see!
Afterwards, I made my very first pumpkin pie (requested by Chris)...I was a little nervous, but got it done and it looked great. Just like my mom's! So I had high hopes that it would taste good too.
Got to bed very late...and Chris even later. And anticipated being awake around 6:30 Christmas morning...so I was a little surprised when my eyes popped open from all the 8:30 a.m. sunshine pouring in our window. Aspen didn't wake up until 8:40 a.m...her anticipation of Santa just really conked her out!
But alas, our holiday was not all smiles and sunshine, unfortunately. Mimi and I got our Christmas dinner on the table around 12:30, and Chris couldn't eat because his stomach was cramping up. He's just gone downhill from there, poor guy! I feel so badly for him, most of his Christmas day wasted feeling ill. He managed to get some good Playstation time in with Aspen before she left with her mom, and then he was down for the count. Mimi and I suspect the flu. I guess we shall see. I've knocked him out with some flu medicine, which I practically had to force him to drink! He refuses to acknowledge that he's sick! But, oh, he is!
Our company Christmas party is this Thursday, and I'm betting that I'll be sicker than a dog by then. Anyone care to bet against me?
Anywho...let's back up to Christmas Eve...
Visited with my friend Marie, had a very nice time. Was so good to spend a little time with her! That's the gift I gave her...the pretty handmade scarf I had my friend Terry make for her! It was perfect for her. {don't I look like an amazon next to tiny Marie??? my head is twice as big!! }
So, that's our holiday. Still never got 100% in the spirit, but it was very nice to spend it with Chris, Aspen, and Mimi...
{ ps...by the way, my pumpkin pie was fabulous! Mimi even deemed it "excellent", which is a rare thing for her! I was a success! }
