off to camp

On Sunday, we dropped Aspen off at her first "overnight" camp...

She's attending the Hardin-Simmons basketball camp, and will be staying in the college dorms from Sunday until Wednesday...she was very excited to be staying in the dorms! (which, by the way, have air condition! when I was in college, our dorms did NOT have air condition!!)

Her roommates name is Tanna...and these two girls share one bathroom with two other girls. Oh, to be a fly on the wall!!

Aspen's first time away from home on her own. Chris asked her if she wanted us to stick around for a little bit, or if she was ready for us to leave, and she said, "Uh, #2." So off we went, leaving her to her newfound freedom!

She called the first night to exclaim about the dorm cafeteria...they could eat ANYTHING they wanted! And as much as they wanted! So far, most of her meals have consisted of corn, rolls, hamburgers, cake, and pie, to name a few.

I'm sure she'll have tons of stories...I still remember my 6th grade camp pretty vividly...it's always a big impression, when it's your first time away from home on your own. Getting to decide on your own what you will eat, when you'll go to bed, whether you'll shower. Big stuff...and a glimpse into how she'll be as an adult one day...
