highlights

Birthday #31 turned out pretty darn good...I had a lovely day today...some highlights:

:: Chris had some "custom" Ralph Lauren items made for me on the website...you won't be seeing this awesome pink hat with green horse in any store! Love this!

:: He also had this pink polo shirt made with the lime green horse...can't wait for the next casual day at work!! I had no idea you could custom design Ralph Lauren...but what a cool concept!

:: Received many phone calls / voicemails today from sweet people...to include my MOM who replayed the grueling labor for me and my grandma who sang Happy Birthday to me!

:: Received many great emails with well-wishes...

:: My friend Laura gifted me with a gorgeous green Nine West purse...

:: My DELICIOUS ice cream cake from Coldstone Creamery, yum-o!!!

:: Kim surprised me at work right before 5:00, with a very sweet gift...the book "The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz that I've been wanting, and a beautiful green/pink bracelet...

:: Chris got me this Martha Stewart book...so excited to read this one!! He DOES read my blog, who knew??? :)

:: Had Happy Birthday sung to me 4 times...one of which was by 100+ people at a work function, unexpectedly...yes, I blushed! I'm not a fan of being the center of attention in big groups like that!!!

:: Did hardly any work all day!

:: Had a delicious dinner at a new restaurant in town called The Beehive...oh my goodness. I had the BEST steak I've ever had...I ate every bite, and it was worth every penny! (Yes, I'm stuffed to the gills now after all the food / dessert from today!)

:: Stumbled across a honeysuckle bush after dinner, and was so EXCITED! It reminded me so much of summers at my grandparents house growing up...I love that smell. I bought some lotion recently, but it didn't smell anything like the honeysuckle I remember. So, when I saw this bush, I broke a little sprig off, and sniffed it all the way home. Ahhh...memories...

:: Have gift certificates to Express and Michaels to spend...yay, shopping!!!

Those are just a few highlights. My day was honestly filled to the brim with lovely people and lovely moments. Thank you, one and all...

:: On one last note...

This is me with the CEO of the company I work for...Kris Seale...today was the annual Shareholders' Meeting, and I was invited to the catered luncheon because I was to receive my 5 Years Award. It's so hard to believe I've been working for this company for that long! When I started, I was supposed to be a "short timer"...and I had a "short timer" attitude. Now, here it is, 5 years later, and I'm still here. And I've learned that I've had to adjust my attitude away from the "short timer" attitude...not an easy thing to do. But, I am ingrained in the company, and am blessed to be a part of it all...I proudly display this award on my desk, and look forward to what the future holds...

I'm so glad you had such a wonderful birthday! You did rack up on the good loot, for sure. Very sweet that Chris got you the customized hat and shirt; they are very "you."

It blows my mind that you get an award for being somewhere 5 years. All I got on my 7 year anniversary here this month was more work to do! ; )

Congrats!!
