We've got problems with the new house and I am just sick about it. It is going to be a long long time before I'll build another house, if ever!!!
Went back after work today to look at the cabinets again, and took the wood sample of the color stain we chose, to compare. Doesn't look at all like what we chose. It's DARK with a cherry-ish tint, and the one we chose was lighter with an orange tint. It doesn't look BAD, but it certainly isn't what we were thinking. And since we revolved all of our other choices against the stain, the BLACK granite counter top, and DARK CHOCOLATE tile, and the DARKER TAN walls are going to make it incredibly DARK in the whole house. Maybe it IS the stain we chose, and it's just a different kind of wood. There's more grain in the cabinets than on the sample, and of course all of the grain areas are darker. WHY then would they let you CHOOSE everything based on an inaccurate sample???
Also...we told them that we wanted a strip of stone above the two windows on the garage. Yesterday they had put the strip of stone over the garage windows. Looked great! They had used some leftover stone from somewhere else, until our delivery came. Today we go out there, and there is stone over EVERY window on the front of the house. AND there is stone UNDER every window on the front of the house! ???? WHY? Not only that, but the delivery of stone that came in for us wasn't the nicotine color we wanted (the white mixed with a yellowish color) but it was instead almost a solid white. NOT only was it not what we wanted, but now we have TWO different kinds of stone mixed.
I'm about to have a freaking heart attack here!

So sorry you're going through all this right now.
I agree with Kim ... make sure they fix all of the mistakes on the house. Be firm about it. You're spending a lot of money to build a home, it's gotta be how you want it!
Just take a deep breath. It will all work out. :)
I'm so sorry!!!!!!!!
Make them fix it. You are paying them, the least they can do is do the way you want.
Why can't they just get things right? I mean, they have plans, instructions, etc. Can't they read?!?
Make 'em fix it, girl!
