on my mind

I blatantly stole this photo from my aunt Karen's My Space account...she's got some good ones on there. Most, I have never seen.

This one grabbed me. Made me SMILE. Made me wonder.

If I'm correct, it was taken around the time of my birth. That's my mom in the back, with the really short hair. That's how she looked when she was pregnant, and right after she had me. That's my dad to the left of her. To the right of my mom is my grandma Flo. And my grandpa Joe is in the chair. And then my aunt Karen...my dad's sister.

This photo brings a lot of random thoughts to mind:

:: LOVE Karen's plaid pants!
:: My dad's fro cracks me up every single time...
:: That white wicker chair is so much a part of my childhood memories. It was everywhere we lived, so associated with my mom.
:: There's always that "what if"...how different would my life be right now if the story of my mom and dad had turned out differently? What if my relationship with my dad had not been what it was? Who would I be today? How differently would I interact with Chris, with Aspen?
:: I'm so grateful that my mom made such an effort to keep my dad's parents/family in my life, even after they divorced. That act really shows how much she loves me.
:: I wish I knew...how did my grandparents meet? How did he propose to her? Where did they get married? There's so much I don't know...

It's funny...so much, wrapped into one photo...that's why I love photos so much...

That picture is the best!! Love it. You are so right. There is so much going on in our photos, that some may not even see. But give it to a different person and they will remember something completely different. And then another still the same. That to is why I love photos as well! Enjoyed the post.

I'm so sorry! I'll try to do better at posting when I read your blog. I don't get to blog as much as I'd like these days, and when I do, I'm very guilty of not posting. SHAME ON ME!

It's amazing to me how quickly things come along in a house once the "shell" is completed. It's going to be just beautiful!

I think your post is what makes us scrapbookers. I feel the same way about photos, they just trigger an avalanche of memories and questions in my mind too. That's why I love that I have a decent camera to take tons of photos. I hope all the memories I record mean as much to the girls as my childhood photos mean to me.

Have a great Easter weekend!
