Hip hip hooray!!!
Our old bedroom furniture was so old and falling apart that during the move, we didn't even bring it into the house. Just left it all in the garage! So we've been on the mattress on the floor since then.
Over the weekend, we ventured out to buy some furniture with our house profits. That was interesting.
The set we wanted was at Ashley Furniture. Using all the knowledge we learned in our Dave Ramsey class, we went in there with a price we wanted to pay, and with the mindset that we were going to get a deal because we were paying with cold hard cash.
So, tell me Dave Ramsey...what happens when the sales woman CALLS YOU OUT and asks, "Oh, you've taken the Dave Ramsey class?" Uhhhhh. Rendered speechless. Chris and I looked at each other with "deer in the headlight" eyes. Needless to say, she was unwilling to work with us on any sort of deal, and we walked out.
So that left us up a creek in terms of furniture. We had to find something else we liked in town. Which wasn't entirely easy, since we wanted a set that was black wood. Those sets are limited. But, we did find one that we really like, and the price was even right. By this time, we had given up on our neogotiating skills, and luckily the price fell in the budget range without needing a deal!
The above picture shows our new set. We got the Queen bed and two night stands, along with an armoire. The armoire isn't shown, but it will look similar to the chest. The knobs are slightly boring, so we will probably change those out to jazz it up a bit. But otherwise, I love it. Very basic, very us. And "ours", and "new"!
It should be delivered by Friday, hopefully...
(nope, no internet at home yet...but we did find out that DSL IS available. That lady was mistaken. So now we're looking at hookup on Wednesday...)

I love the new furniture! I think it is indeed you!! I can't believe the lady at Ashley's said that to you guys!! When we paid cash for our furniture there last year the man we dealt with did give us a little deal. How RUDE! She just lost herself some commission on that one!!
Good for you for walking out! Sounds like she won't be in sales for too long with that attitude. I absolutely LOVE what you found, very nice indeed!
Glad to hear that you found a set! I would have walked out too. That was rather rude. She obviously did NOT want to make a sale.
