Today was Aspen's first band concert! She was so excited!
At the beginning of the year, the band teacher spoke about the Christmas concert, and guaranteed us that we would be pleasantly surprised by how good the beginners were after just 4 short months with their new instruments.
She was right!
I was very impressed...the band sounded great! They each practice in their own groups (flutes together, etc.), and then the past two days have been spent bringing all the groups together into one big concert. An interesting way to do it, but they sure pulled it off.
I wasn't able to get any good photos, because where we ended up sitting was horrible. We couldn't see Aspen at all, and she was on the front row! I did get two recordings of them playing, so that's good! Of course, they wouldn't load up here, I don't know why. It seems my camera video isn't compatible or something. Oh well...
Aspen was quite proud, and she should be...she is kicking butt at the flute!!!

Sorry you didn't get any good photos. But the important thing is that she enjoys it AND she's good at it.
Isn't it amazing how those kids can pick up on an istrurment like that! We have always been blown away how good Kelsey plays her saxophone.
I am so sorry that we missed the 6th grade part of the program. I would have loved to hear them. And the concept that the teacher uses of keeping the sections separated all year. Gary and I thought she was a kook. But apparently she knows what the heck she is doing! It worked great and you would have never known they didn't play together every day!
Way to go Aspen! Keep on playing!
