twilight movie

** If you aren't a Twilight fan, feel free to skip this rambling post! :)

Last weekend, I went to see "Twilight" with Kim...

Before going into it, we had both heard a few things about the movie. We were told not to go into the movie expecting a "blockbuster"...that the special effects were just so-so and could have been so much better. We also heard people saying that they enjoyed the movie so much more the second time, because during the first viewing they were too concerned about comparing it to the book. So, we determined we would just go and watch...just enjoy it for what it was.

And I really did enjoy it. I thought it was a pretty good movie overall...

Of course, I've been thinking about it since then...

Mainly, I felt the casting was a bit off. Bella was probably the most on target. In the photos I've seen of the actress, I had a small problem with her teeth for some reason...but in the movie, I didn't notice them at all. She portrayed the part well, and was how I envisioned the character. Edward was a bit off. I am probably the only woman around that doesn't find Robert attractive. In my mind, Edward was much more attractive, and much more smooth and put together. I think they should have had him dress a lot nicer. He wasn't as debonier as I imagined. As for the rest of the vampires...I thought Alice should have been more "quirky"...Rose should have been more beautiful...and Jasper...his part was so weird to me. It was played all wrong, it really seemed like he had some kind of mental disease. He could have been intense and dangerous in a much less awkward way. Emmett was pretty close to how I imagined, as were the parents. One of my main gripes is the blonde hair...why did the characters with blonde hair have to look so fake? The brunettes looked like normal people...but the blonde vampires had such an ugly blonde color, they just looked weird. Then, of course, there were the secondary characters...like Jessica. I thought the actress played her very well, but she didn't look anything like I'd imagined. Same for Angela. And "Eric"? Was his name even Eric in the book? And Mike. Mike should have been much cuter and less gooney.

I guess it's all in how you picture things as you read. My perception could be completely different from everyone else's...

Another odd thing from the movie...they portrayed Rose/Emmett and Alice/Jasper as boyfriend/girlfriend at the school. If I'm not mistaken, in the book they acted like brother/sister when they were at school or in public. I thought it was kind of a weird change to make for the movie.

Okay, and my last gripe...Victoria's hair...it should have been a much more vibrant red/orange color. It was so subdued, and it should have been fire...

Overall it was really good...and I'm looking forward to the next one...when is that coming out?

I enjoyed out movie date! I agree with the casting of the movie. I really enjoyed the movie overall, but in my minds eye I didn't picture alot of the cast they way they appeared on film. And I really was a Jacob fan, but after seeing him on screen Blah! I agree with you on Edward. He isn't nearly was handsome as he apears in my head!

I'm going to see the movie tonight with a friend, so I skipped this post for now! I wondered if you had read Jodi Picoult's book, My Sister's Keeper? I read it a couple of years ago. She really is a great writer!!

Yep, I've got all the same gripes about the movie (except about Robert Pattinson, I'm in LOOOOOOOOVE with him, in a very bad way - just check out my flair, ha ha). My biggest complaint is the glaring fact that they NEVER say "I love you" in the movie. I mean, hellllllllo, they're in love they should say it - they did in the book many times. Why leave that out??!! Anyway, I've seen it twice and liked it waaaaaaaaaaay better the 2nd time. Can't wait till April when it's out on DVD!!

I agree about Edward. I thought Robert played the character pretty well, showing that torture Edward felt, that inner struggle. I don't really care for him, though. My problem is that I started reading these after the movie, so I knew he was playing the part and he's all I could picture while I was reading. But I agree that they should have picked someone a little more "beautiful" for Edward.

I really liked the movie! Definitely doesn't compare to the book, but it was pretty good. I'm anxious to see what they do with the next book now that they'll have a bit larger budget to work with.

Haven't seen the movie and won't until it is on DVD probably, but I too am not a Robert fan and thought Edwards was in my mind more of a hunk...I also am a Jacob fan...so there I am alone on that one too...oh well...
