the twilight series

Okay...so I finished the Twilight series while I was away last week, and haven't been able to give my thoughts on it. Today seemed like the perfect day for that...if you haven't read the series, I might give some things away.

Overall...I thought the story from beginning to end was pretty good. There were parts that I truly loved (a lot of those occurred in the first book) and parts I wasn't fond of (a lot of those occurred in the fourth book). It's a great love story about two people (well, a person and a vampire) falling in love and becoming so important to one another that it's like gravity has their movements in sync. That, obviously, is the kind of love that most people are looking for...

Twilight was the best, by far. Such a wonderful story of falling in love. So intense. Such a page turner. So much learning. I haven't been this moved by a book in a long time, and I was filled with excitement to move onto the second book.

New Moon...I found this one pretty heart-wrenching, and awfully depressing for most of it. There was a lot of "setting up" for the books to come. And I must say, I am "Team Edward" and not "Team Jacob"...Jacob never really grew on me...

Eclipse was a bit more upbeat and the story ended with a celebration. This was probably my second favorite book of the series. But it didn't hold the magic of Twilight.

And Breaking Dawn. The Honeymoon was interesting, but what came next really bothered me. The whole pregnancy and especially the birth. But, it was good watching Bella and how she dealt with her new lifestyle. I thought her "powers" were good for the story. But the chapters leading up to the climax (the many many chapters) really dragged on. And the climax was a bit ho-hum. Probably the weirdest thing that bothered me most was Jacob and Nessie's relationship. I really did not see that one coming, and I just sat there disgusted. Aspen could probably read this series, but I don't think I would let her read this fourth book until she's a little older. It had some disturbing parts, and some sexual parts too...

So do I recommend the series? Now that I'm through with it all, I would probably still recommend it. However, for me personally, I would probably have been happiest just reading the first book, Twilight. I will always love Twilight!

Have you read the series?? I would love to hear YOUR take on the whole thing...
