Friday night, we took it easy. Went to Olive Garden for some pasta for our runner, and then went home and watched a movie called "Running on the Sun" about the Badwater 135 mile ultra marathon. Let me just say, those people are CRAZY INSANE!!!! It was a good documentary though.
Saturday morning, Chris got up at 5:15 to get a 10 mile run in before Aspen's track meet. Then we packed up and treked over to the stadium for her 9:00 mile & a half race. There was a girl from Madison that was pretty good, and she and Aspen ran together the entire race. Aspen smoked her with her finishing kick, and Aspen won by 22 seconds. And her time of 9:41 beat the previous meet record for that race, so that was very exciting for our girl! I tried taking photos from the top of the bleachers for this race, and it didn't work out so well. Those pics weren't the greatest...
Her second and third races were the last two of the day, so we had quite a bit of time to kill. Chris and I went to Hobby Lobby for a bit and wandered around. I bought some purple and yellow yarn to make Aspen a fun scarf upon her request. It is my first time doing a scarf with two yarns at the same time, and I was a little nervous. It's actually quite easy though, yay!
Back to the stadium for the mile and the mile relay...I moved down to the fence near the finish line, on ground level for the mile. That worked out a lot better.
Here is a very serious Aspen, pre-mile race...Chris loves this picture...

It was the same deal in this race...same girl, same tactics. The two of them ran the entire race together, until Aspen turned on her turbo kick at the end and smoked her by about 20 seconds. Her time of 6:16 was a few seconds off from the meet record, so unfortunately that one didn't get broken...but still a fabulous race and another first place under her belt.

Coming in for the finish...
Then she turned right around and ran the second leg of the mile relay, the very last race of the day and always an exciting one. The girls had a great race, and pulled out a first place! Very exciting! And as it turns out, Aspen clocked the fastest leg of their four girls, so yippie!! Here she is, coming in for the handoff...

As you can imagine, we were a very happy family after a day like this!! Aspen got invited to the movies with a bunch of her girlfriends, so off she went and wasn't seen or heard from until 4:00 on Sunday. She had a great time, and Chris and I had an impromtu date night! Yay! We had dinner at Tamolley's, and then he wanted some Date Night ColdStone. I was good and got a smoothie, which was pretty tasty. I threw the poor kid for a loop though, he had no idea how to make it and it took him forever!!
I bought some Mederma today and hopefully that will help with my face scar...also bought these at Dillards...but once I got them home and really looked at them, I decided the heel was too high. A 4 inch heel is a bit much too be comfortable all day at work, when you're traipsing back to the warehouse for paper reems and such. So, I returned them today and got these instead...they look kind of weird in the picture, but are very cute on. And only a 3 inch heel :)
Well, I suppose I have rambled on long enough. I think I will have a bowl of cereal and read some of my book, then get stuff ready for work tomorrow...another crazy busy week ahead...
