our weekend

We enjoyed a fun, relaxing weekend here...hope you did too!!

:: Friday evening, we had dinner at Casa Herrara with some friends...a few pitchers of margaritas, fun conversation, and tasty food. Good times. From there, my sweet husband took me to see The Time Traveler's Wife...woo hoo!! After reading the book, I have been very excited for the movie...it was produced by the same guy that did The Notebook, one of my favorites. So I was expecting something magical. I must say, I didn't leave there with a magical feeling. But, it was a good movie overall. As I'm rereading the book now (I'm about a 1/3 of the way in), I've already noticed lots of differences. In general, I thought the actors did a great job...there is just something I can't put my finger on that kept it from being magical for me. Not sure what...if you've seen the movie, I would love to hear your thoughts. Especially if you read the book.

:: Saturday, I enjoyed a relaxing day at our monthly crop. Instead of scrapbooking pages, I took my laptop and worked on preparing the Ruidoso photos for a Winkflash printed album. I was able to size all of the photos and organize the book, and the only thing left to do now is complete the journaling. Then I can upload it to Winkflash when they have their next book sale. The food was yummy, we did a "salad fest" theme. I took my Waldorf chicken salad and there were lots of other yummy salad there too. Just a very nice day all the way around.

:: Saturday evening, our friend Rolando and his family came over to look through all of Aspen's old clothes. Kids grow so fast, and it's always nice to be able to pass stuff onto others with smaller children. Hopefully their daughter can get some wear out of some of the clothes. From there, we headed to Red Robin for dinner and enjoyed some great conversation with them. They are good people! We went back to our house for awhile afterwards and relaxed together. Another great evening with friends.

:: Sunday was the norm...grocery shopping and laundry...and I let Chris talk me into a bike ride in the blazing 4:00 heat. Whew. We were totally roasted. Should have waited until later in the evening, but guess we learned our lesson! Now I hope to relax for the rest of the evening and maybe do some reading...

:: Tomorrow marks the first day of school!!! All the kiddos are heading back to the routine. Aspen will be starting the 8th grade, so she'll be "big dog" on campus at the junior high. Hopefully she will have a good year...
