best st. patty's day ever

My hubby...he pulls the best surprises, and this one did not disappoint!

My heritage is Irish, so I always enjoy St. Patrick's Day...though I always wish I was in St. Louis so I could go to the parade with my family. I am the only person Chris has ever met that gets St. Patty's Day cards :) And I get quite a few...makes me feel special!!

This year, I woke up to find a card from Chris on my dressing table. I smiled and ripped it open...only it wasn't just a card. Inside he had written the following note: Life has been tough and just plain crazy lately, so tonight I want to celebrate your Irish heritage by painting the town green. Don your best duds, for its an evening of fine pub dining and hours of authentic dancing! The fun starts early, so be ready to leave the house at 5:30.

Intriguing!!!!!!

I thought about it all day...I told everyone about it, and how excited I was for our evening out!!! My coworker Victor even tried to help me figure out what we would be doing, thinking that "dancing" meant that Chris and I were headed somewhere to dance ourselves. :) I just couldn't figure out why we were leaving so early, if we were going out dancing afterwards??

At 5:30, we headed out in our green duds and Chris proceeded downtown...I was pleasantly surprised when he pulled up to Cypress Street...yum!! It is one of the three nicest restaurants in Abilene, and we enjoy their food. I had the salmon, which was delicious...and it came with two fried risotto balls which I LOVE. I need to figure out how to make them. I could have just had those and been happy as a clam!! Our dinner was relaxed and it was so nice to spend some quality time with Chris.

From there, we headed to the Civic Center...where Lord of the Dance was set to perform at 7:30!!!! I had no idea that they were coming to Abilene, much less that they would be there for St. Patty's Day!! What are the chances of that happening???? And what better way to spend the green holiday?? I was just floored and so excited!!!

The funny thing is, our waiter asked Chris as we were leaving if we were "going to Lord of the Dance"...Chris responded with a crisp no and I didn't really think anything about it at the time :) That guy could have ruined the whole surprise! Good thing I don't pay much attention to most things!

I love when Chris plans things like this...he is always so last minute, when he actually takes the time to plan something like this it really makes me feel loved. He is so good to me. I just spent my best St. Patty's Day with the love of my life...and it was perfect!!
