routine

Hi there!! We had a whirlwind weekend and it was fun! We took a road trip down to San Marcos, where there are two huge outlet malls. We gave Aspen a budget and she was able to do her school clothes shopping.

We left Friday evening after work...drove about 2.5 hours to Fredericksburg and had dinner at the Fredericksburg Brewery, one of our favorite places. After we ate way too much food, we got on the road again. Another hour and a half longer and we arrived in San Marcos. Funny story...only once we were heading from Fredericksburg to San Marcos, Chris realized that I had forgotten to put our GPS in the car. It's always left in there, but we had taken it with us to Napa and I had not yet put it back in the car. Ooooops. It has been such a very long time since we've had to navigate the roads on our own, and boy was that interesting!!! We checked in to our La Quinta and went to bed so we'd be fresh for our early morning.

We had breakfast at the hotel and got to the first outlet mall at 9:00. From 9:00 - 12:00, we got a lot accomplished and the crowds were not bad at all. We broke for lunch at Outback, and then headed back out again. The crowds picked up in the afternoon, but I still don't think they were as bad as last year. We accomplished the first outlet and walked across the street to the second one. We were able to do both malls and got lots of good deals. Left there around 6:00 and headed back to Fredericksburg. We drove through some hard rain, and we decided to go ahead and stay the night there. Had dinner at West End Pizza and got a room at the Best Western. Then we stopped at Hondo's, a fun little bar/restaurant with a live band. We tried to get Aspen to dance, but she was too embarrassed :) She fell asleep at the table practically...she can't hang with the cool old folks. :)

Sunday, after breakfast at the hotel, we headed out to hit a few shops in Fredericksburg. Got a few cute things, and then stopped at our favorite winery. Relaxed there for a bit and then headed home...

In San Marcos, Aspen was able to get two pair of shoes, two pair of jeans, a hoodie, lots of shirts, a bracelet, and a necklace with her money. Chris found 7 shirts at the Ralph Lauren shop, and was very pleased with that. :) I found a few goodies too...a purse from Fossil, a gold watch from Fossil, a sweater from Tommy Hilfiger, and a tshirt from Ralph Lauren.  In Fredericksburg, Aspen found a few things, and I found a shirt. We also bought a few metal things...a colorful donkey, and a colorful roadrunner for our back flower bed. Lots of goodies!

Now, I believe all of our summer fun is complete...I am ready to get settled down and back into a routine. I love routine!
