winter formal

Saturday evening was Aspen's Winter Formal -- her last one of her high school life. This dance isn't as formal, so most of the girls wear short dresses. They wear heels and then change into Converse tennis shoes so they can dance. Aspen was invited to go with a group of girls who are in her youth group at church. Some had dates, some didn't.

We took a few photos at home, and then we met the rest of the group at Wesley Court to take group photos. The weather was nice, and not too windy, so that was good for photos.
Aspen looked absolutely gorgeous in her dress...she has become such a lovely young woman.

The group finished up photos and then went to Lytle Land for dinner, where she had some yummy salmon. Unfortunately, she felt a little left out of the group, which saddens us. Then they moved on to the dance, and that left out feeling continued on there. High schoolers can be so thoughtless and don't think of anyone but themselves. So I am not sure if they treated her this way intentionally, or if it was just an unfortunate happening. Either way, Aspen came home early and was fairly upset. Please say a little prayer for her if you would -- that she might find true friendship in her life, and that she will continue to be positive and strong in the face of adversity. She is such a light, and it breaks my heart that she goes through this stuff. Why invite her along in the first place, if that is how you're going to treat her?

If nothing else, she looked absolutely beautiful and she makes us very proud!

Aspen is stunning! My goodness. I still remember that young girl at your wedding. She is just lovely.

So sad to hear her evening wasn't what she hoped for. I will be praying for special friends to come into her life that will treat her how she deserves to be treated. :)
