graduation lunch

After the scavenger hunt, Aspen, Mom and I ran some errands -- picked up the BBQ from Al's, picked up the cupcakes that my coworker Allison made for us, picked up drinks and ice, etc. When we got home, I got the house set up for guests and then we all got pretty for the day.

We had a little family in for the graduation, and they all met at our house for a relaxed lunch. It was me, Chris, Aspen, Mimi, Mom and Randy, Gary and Linda, Pat and Jim; Aspen's mom and half brother were also invited but they weren't able to attend at the last minute. We ate and enjoyed the company...a fun afternoon!! The BBQ was delicious, and Allison's cupcakes were incredible!!!! (Shhhhh...over a two day period, I had THREE!!!!)

Our 2014 Grad!
Cupcakes by Allison -- three dozen -- fit perfectly on this amazing huge tray!! Vanilla with purple icing; red velvet with buttercream icing; and maple bacon -- sooooo yummy! I had one maple bacon (yum!) and two red velvet. I am not even a fan of red velvet but Allison's were incredible -- the buttercream icing was to die for!! I could eat 12 more. I'm really having to restrain myself, since we have lots of leftovers!!
Aspen's favorite is red velvet!
Me with cupcake #1 :) pretty excited!
The lighting isn't great, since the window was behind us -- but love this selfie of me and my mom!!
The delicious spread of BBQ -- brisket, sausage, chicken, ranch beans, potato salad, and cornbread muffins!
A cute gift that Aspen received -- a personalized beach towel from a woman Mimi has known for many years -- Mary Frost
These two -- so very much alike, and so very much different all at the same time...
After lunch, we relaxed and visited -- got changed into our dressier clothes and headed to the ACU campus around 5:30 so we could get good seats at the ceremony...
