Thank goodness for gift cards! :)
As Chris and I are going through the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace program, I am doing my very, very best to not buy anything that isn't needed. No scrapbook supplies just because they're cute. No clothes because they're on sale. Nothing from the $1 bins at Target. Nothing. It feels a little strange, and yes, a little sad too!!
But the gift cards! License to spend money on stuff that I want! It's a beautiful thing. Truly.
Gift Card #1: My PTS, Dronda, sent me a gift card to Borders...yippie!! I had created a t-shirt design for their annual reunion, and she sent this to me as her "thank you". Not needed or expected, but definitely appreciated...especially in these "no spending" times! Books for Kelley!! As soon as I got it, I got online and ordered two books that I've been wanting. Felt soooo good!
Cesar's Way is the one I'm reading right now...I'm really liking it. He's talking about his past and how he got to where he is, the Dog Whisperer...and soon, he'll be sharing his wisdom on how to understand dogs, and how to let them ACT like dogs.
This is another one I've been wanting...John Irving is one of my favorite authors. His books are filled with the tiniest details that all become relevant in the end somehow...I'm looking forward to reading this one too...thanks Dronda!!
Gift card #2: $30 at Michaels...a birthday gift from Dronda ($30 for 30 years!) Man, I had fun with this one! Bought some stuff that I thought was cute, and also this aforementioned idea book...Ribbonrie...lots of cool ideas in there!!!!
Gift card #3: $25 at the local scrapbook store...got this one from my department at work, for my birthday. Finally got around to spending it, as I don't go in the store too often. Bought some odds and ends...
Gift card #4: Free panty coupons from Victoria's Secret...do you guys get these?? Love the free panties!!!
Thank you to all involved for helping me stay straight with Dave Ramsey! It's making the process that much easier for me...
