My visit with Dronda was so nice...I loved it...it was so so great to see her! And to spend DAYS with her! That hasn't happened in so long. And I've missed it.
She's so easy to be with...she's the kind of person that you just fall back into being comfortable with, right away. Even after being apart for so long. She is my cherished friend. She is truly like a sister to me.
Chris asked us if we had ever "gotten into it" or had a fight...neither one of us could remember a single one. I think that's pretty special!
Dronda got to know Chris and Aspen a lot better...and they got to know and love her like I do...and Dronda met Mimi for the first time. Mimi just loved her...but what's not to love about Dronda?
Here's a quick rundown of our lovely, long weekend...
:: I picked Dronda up at the airport at 11:15 on Thursday...it was so fabulous to see her standing there in our airport! We dropped her stuff off at our house, and I gave her the tour...explaining all the way about the remodeling and the plans. Then we headed to lunch at Zookinis and talked and talked and talked...from there, we shopped around at Target and our mall, talking talking talking...and laughing...she is so easy to be around, I love this girl! I also drove her around Lone Star and showed her the houses we're contemplating...she saw WAY too many houses this weekend, but was such a great sport...she gave us all her opinions and loved looking at all that brick! :) I made beef stroganoff for dinner and our evening was a complete circus with our painters and their daughter there, the three crazy dogs, and all of us. Dronda probably thinks we're all insane!!!
:: Friday, I thouroughly enjoyed being off from work!!!!! We drove out to Buffalo Gap and shopped through the little stores there, and she picked up some beautiful pottery as a souvenier. We met Chris at Subway for a nice chatty lunch, and then drove and looked at more houses! And then we decided that we would go see a movie that we were both dying to see...Little Miss Sunshine...I've heard so many raves about this movie on tons of blogs, and many of my personal friends have highly recommended it. I heard things like "laugh out loud the whole way through" and "feel good movie"...and that was what I was expecting. I may be boycotted for saying this, but I'm sorry...this movie did nothing for me. It was a complete DOWNER. The characters, the things that happened to them, the relationships, all of it. There were a few funny parts, but I really am not sure what all the fuss is about this. I don't recommend it, not even for a rental. And if the "F" word offends you, definitely not one for you...anyway...we went to dinner with my friend Kim! I was so excited for Kim and Dronda to meet, and I think they both had an enjoyable evening. At least I hope so! I'm always for people I love to meet...and I think that Kim and Dronda are similar in many ways...we ate at Olive Garden and enjoyed our meal and the conversation...and sweet Chris was a good, outnumbered sport throughout it all!!
:: Saturday, Dronda joined us at our soccer game...which we won 7-1. It was a great game. Our girls are looking so good. Then after we rested a bit and got cleaned up, we went to one of the universities in our town and took some pictures. That was lots of fun! It's always great to be with someone who loves taking pictures as much as we do! Afterwards, we had a yummy mexican dinner at Abuelos, and played Phase 10 (a lot like Liverpool rummy) until 12:30! (And yes, I was the big winner...thank you...thank you very much!)...Chris got a kick out of me and Dronda, who both take games very seriously! Big stickler for the rules! I think that the Repps are definitely where I get my love of games from! Especially cards...
:: Sunday, Dronda's last morning with us...we got up early early and went to Cracker Barrell for breakfast before we took her to the airport at 9:00...we were sad to watch her go...she was a definite light in our lives this weekend.
Thank you, Dronda Louise, for coming to spend some time with me...it was much-needed, much-enjoyed, and much-appreciated...it was relaxing and fun and comfortable. I hope the house mess didn't bother you too much!!!
Now, a few pictures (of course!)...

My PTS against a painted wall in Buffalo Gap...

I really love this one of her...there will be a one-picture scrapbook page coming up with this one!

Oh, yes, we had some fun!

Gosh ~ you make it sound nearly as wonderful as it was. I was smiling remember some of the things in this post. I loved getting to know Chris & Aspen so much better. I do hope Chris will play cards with us again even if we are a little cut throat.
Loved meeting Kim ~ know you will be reading Kim and wanted you to know this. I really wish I could be down there for your walks and crops ~ maybe another time. Definately want to crop with you guys some time as I know you both enjoy it as much as I do.
Little Miss Sunshine ~ it was the horn & the running starts of the bug that my friend Julie liked. She can't believe we did not LOVE that movie!
Back to the e-mail world for a while ~ see you soon my PTS!
Aww, what a lovely time you guys had! I'm so glad that Miss Dronda was able to make it to Texas. I love all the pictures you guys took! How fun.
I had an absolutely wonderful time at dinner with you guys. Dronda, even though you don't have a blog for me to read about you I felt like I knew you already as well. Kelley has told me about you, and she was so right. You are a lovely, lovely person. I hope next time it works out for us to crop together! I'm sorry that it didn't this time. One of these times I may have to hide away in Kelley's car and come visit everyone in St. Louis with her!
Kim ~ come on up. I organize a cropping Escape weekend in January at one of our hotels and I keep telling Kelley it would be perfect for you guys!
I'm so JEALOUS of her trip.
Maybe I can stop having babies so I can come out some day!
