The journey to paradise was, well, long! Thursday after work, we picked up Neeley in Clyde and then had dinner at the Pizza House. From there, we drove 3 hours to Dallas and checked into the Westin hotel. Our company graciously paid for our hotel for that evening, and the parking for the entire time we were gone. Yep, our company rocks!
Once we got checked in, we met Neeley down in the bar for a nightcap. Here is me with Chris, enjoying the evening...

The next morning, our first flight was scheduled for 10:50. We took the Westin shuttle to our terminal, and waited with the other FDLIC people. Below you'll see Neely, Chris, Kim and Gary...had a quick breakfast from Dunkin Donuts and our flight was pretty much on time and uneventful.

It took a little over 8 hours to arrive at the Honolulu airport... On the flight, Chris was able to sleep the majority of the way. I read a few magazines and well into my book, The Help. They showed a few movies, but I wasn't interested in either one. I slept for about 30 minutes of the trip, and was quite happy to get off the plane after being crammed between Chris and another man, sitting straight up for way too long. The Honolulu airport was open air and very pretty...we had a short layover there until our 30 minute plane ride to Maui. It was just a little delayed, and then we were on our way with the last leg of the journey. At the Maui airport, we were met by Speedy Shuttle. They wrapped yummy smelling lei's around our necks and directed us to our van.

It took about 40 minutes on the van to get to the Maui Westin, and the two photos below were taken through the van window... One of my very favorite things in the world is "god light"...those glorious beams of light that sometimes shine down through the clouds. It's a total God moment, and it was awesome to see it first thing upon our arrival!
