photo catch up

It's been awhile since I've had time to post some photos, so I took some time this morning to get them ready for you all! So here we go! Above is a cute photo of Aspen and Chris, getting ready to leave on their January date night!
I also wanted to post some recent photos of the shop progress...Chris and Neeley have been working very hard on this project! This photo above shows the placement of where the shop sits on our property, in relation to the house...it's right at the end of the driveway.
This is a side view from the left...this is the side that we see from our backyard. On the bottom, to the left, is the shop - double french doors lead into it. On the bottom, to the right, is the single garage. On the top, is an extra bonus room, and there will be a deck over the garage. It wraps around the left side, underneath the bonus room windows. There are cedar posts holding the deck up...still need to add more on the left side, that's not done yet.
Front view of the building...stone on the bottom, and cedar on the top. Double french doors going into the bonus room.
A close up of the cedar up top...it looks so nice! Still needs to be stained...

So, moving on to Valentine's Day!!
This was Aspen's first Valentine's Day with a boyfriend and she was very excited! She decided to make him a paper bag book that listed all the reasons why she likes him. It turned out very cute, I was very proud of her craftiness!! :)
Here's a shot of one of the inside cards that pulled out of the bag pocket -- she's a cutie!
She put the book into a cute Valentine's bucket, along with some of his favorite things - lemon lime gatorade, sour patch kids candy, and peanut M&Ms...
There was a bit of a snaffu with Aspen's gift from Kevin...she ended Valentine's Day a bit bummed. Kevin had sent roses to school and apparently there is a "no flowers allowed at school" rule. The office signed for them, but never called her to the office to get them. So she just thought she wasn't getting anything. She went to the office Friday morning, and they gave them to her, with a strict warning to tell Kevin not to send them there again. She was super excited to get her first bouquet!!! And they were gorgeous...
My sweet hubby sent a beautiful bouquet of gerber daisies to me at work! They are so pretty and really spruced up my office for two days. Now they are home for us to enjoy here!! :)

He was also bummed though, because the gift he ordered for me online didn't arrive in time for Valentine's Day...it did arrive on Friday though, and it was certainly worth the wait!! Below is a photo of the london blue topaz bracelet he gave me, that matches the gorgeous ring he gave me for Christmas. The setting is lovely, a bit ornate and vintage looking. Love love love it!!!
I made Chris a Date Night box, full of envelopes with planned monthly date nights to fill a year! I had a lot of fun making this for him, and I am looking forward to each month, when he opens the envelope for that month and we get to have some fun!! He isn't so sure about surprises like this, but I think once we get going on them, he will quite enjoy himself!
The last aspect of our Valentine's holiday was on Friday evening...the youth group at church, which Aspen is part of, was holding a fundraiser that we participated in. It was a romantic Valentine's dinner and a movie, complete with long stem rose and a serenade!! They decorated the gym up so nicely, with twinkle lights and tables with table cloths and candles. The youth then proceeded to serve us our dinner and it was so nice! We started with a loaf of bread and olive oil dipping sauce; then we had a salad and lasagna; and we finished it off with a chocolate brownie and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Chris also enjoyed a piece of german chocolate cake :) We watched The Princess Bride, until the dvd started messing up...then we watched The Sand Lot :) Here we are, amidst the twinkle lights!
So there's an update for you!! Hope all is well with you all! Now it's time to get busy cleaning house and doing some errands!! Happy Saturday!
