:: Tonight was our April date night!! The plan for the evening was the Cajun Fest downtown Abilene, which was part of Art Walk. Neither of us had ever been to Art Walk before, and I had never had Cajun food before. So it was a night of new things!
We arrived downtown and then started off, looking for the big white tent. It was easy to find :) There was live music playing by a high school band, and we got in line to get our food. Turned in our tickets and got a deep tray of shrimp, crawfish, potatoes, and corn on the cob, and also dessert. From there we found a spot to sit (it was very crowded), and then suddenly heard my name. Kim and Gary were right across the way! We joined them at their table, enjoyed our Cajun meal together. Kim was not too interested in any of the food, but I thought it was pretty good. The Cajun spice was pretty spicy, my lips and tongue were on fire! But it was definitely edible. The crawfish was a lot of work for a very little amount of fish, but it was tasty.
From there, we went to walk around Art Walk for a bit...the shops downtown had things set up on the sidewalks and everything was open late. We stopped in at McKays bakery for a little dessert (lemon bar, brownie, oatmeal cookie, fingerprint cookies with chocolate)...then sat for a bit and enjoyed each other's company. It was a relaxing, fun evening. And always nice to try something new!
Looking forward to our May date already! I don't remember what it entails, so I will be surprised too!! :) I love my hubby...so glad we are doing this each month!!
