More from Thursday, May 2nd...it will be a short one tonight. I woke up with a splitting headache, it went away for awhile thankfully, but now it has returned and I just want to go lay down...so, today I give you En Gedi...
En Gedi is an oasis in the middle of endless rock and sand. En Gedi is mentioned specifically in the Bible, and it is also thought that David wrote many of his psalms here. You'll see in one of the photos below a cave that they speculate David hid in. There are three waterfalls in this dry area. The first one is a good size and is an easy walk. Some people chose to stay there, and the rest of the group hiked up a steep, fairly treacherous path to get to the second and third waterfalls. It was super hot that day, and my heat intolerance almost got the best of me as I struggled up the path. But it was so so worth it!!! The David Waterfall, at the top, was exquisite!!! It was actually two streams of water coming down, and the area there was so lush and wonderful. I really enjoyed it up there. If I remember correctly, these were the first waterfalls I had ever seen!! I can't think of a better one to start with!

The first waterfall we came to...small, but still quite beautiful! You'll see below, our CEO Kris got in this waterfall, and he took up most of the space. That can give you an idea of the size. |

That cave near the center of the photo is a possible cave that David hid in. |
This was the second waterfall...still fairly small, but the green around it really made it pop! |
And then we crested the final hill and there it was!! So tall and so amazing!!! |
I loved it here! Of course, I love the sound of water so it was a natural fit for me. I would love to have spent some alone time here, reading and praying... |
Loved the colors of the sharp green and the tranquil blue... |
Kris, in the waterfall! The water was pretty chilly! But refreshing on such a hot day! |
Me and my man, with the gorgeous waterfalls behind us... |
Tomorrow, we'll finish off the day with a swim in the Dead Sea!!
