great weekend

:: Another three-day weekend is in the books, and it has been great!!!

:: Friday, I got to Kim's around 9:00 and she and I enjoyed a relaxing, fun Bestie day! It's so nice to spend time with someone where you don't have to be anything but yourself...where you can talk some, laugh some, and work some too. Quiet is not necessarily a bad thing! With a bestie, quiet can be just as nice! Her daughter Kelsey was home from college for the weekend too, so I was able to see her a bit too. She is a hoot! :) Kim and I took a break and had lunch together at Jason's Deli, and then back to her house for more scrap fun! I left around 5:30, and it was deemed the perfect day (by me!)...

:: Friday evening, I picked up Chris from work, and we met Aspen, Neeley and Lauren at Casa for dinner. Then Aspen headed off to the Homecoming game (they won). Her best friend Bailey was on the homecoming court, but unfortunately didn't win. She looked beautiful though. Homecoming is different here in Texan than it was when I was growing up. We had the game, and then there was a Homecoming dance where everyone dressed up. Here, there is the game, and everyone gets these huge awful mums with ribbons and there is no dance but the homecoming court dresses up and the queen is announced at half time. So...

:: Saturday morning, Aspen and I went to walk in the Alzheimer Memory Walk, and then she went to get her eyebrows waxed and worked a double shift. 11-4 and 5-11. One of the hostesses was fired, so she was filling in for the time being. She was a tired girl by the end of the day to say the least! Chris and I had our date day for September -- we went to the Beer Summit at Frontier Texas, and it was lots of fun! There were a ton of people there. There were about 30 different booths of different breweries from all over the US, and for the price of the ticket you were able to get 10 samples of your choosing. Chris really enjoyed it I think! I didn't sample any since I don't like beer, but it was quite an enjoyable afternoon with my hubby! From there we were going to have an early dinner at Abi House, but they weren't open. So we opted for Cypress Street and really enjoyed that too. Then we stopped at Monk's coffee shop downtown and had yum yums - Chris: mocha frap and blueberry muffin, Kelley: caramel apple cider and brownie. Mmm! We were pooped for some reason, and went to bed early!!

:: Sunday, church was awesome! We are really loving it! Afterwards, we went to the second class in the leadership series we are attending. Then we did chores and at 6:30 we went back up to the church for a GroupLink session. They had the worship center broken into little sections, and you could go talk to Life Group leaders to see if you might be interested in trying out their group. Chris and I would really like to get involved in this church, and so we decided on one to try out. We'll see how it goes. They meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:00, starting this week. Basically, a Life Group means you join up with people who you grow deeper in the Word with...we'll go a little deeper into the topic that Pastor David talked about on Sunday and relate it to our lives and get personal. We'll see how it goes!

:: Week one of my Week in the Life project is now complete! I ended up with 77 photos. Oh my. I have to narrow that down to 13!! Or, I may just have to do two two-page layouts. I don't know. I'm just starting it and can make decisions as I go. That's the beauty of it! :) I'm off to work on that!!
