dishwasher woes

It's always something, now isn't it??

I took Monday afternoon off, to wait for the dishwasher repairman. He was scheduled to come between 1:30 and 2:00. We've been without a dishwasher for a few months now, it will fill up with water but won't run after that. So, after finally reaching my breaking point on doing the dishes by hand every night, I called and made the appointment.

2:00 came and went...at 2:30, I began calling. Kept getting their recording. Finally reached someone around 2:45, only to discover that I wasn't even on their schedule!!! Apparently, the secretary had an emergency on Friday after speaking with me, and had failed to write me down :( Grr...

But, he said he could squeeze me in, and ended up showing at 5:45 or so. A long day of waiting! And a wasted day at that, since I couldn't get into much not knowing when he would come. He was a very nice guy, and apologized for being so late. Got right to looking at the dishwasher.

Grrr #2. It ended up being the motor. It was frozen, fried up. Which he said was odd, with it being only 3 or so years old. Over $100 for a new motor on that brand. He suggested it was probably cheaper and a better idea to just buy a new dishwasher. Not exactly what I had in mind. Him either...he thought he'd be unclogging something that was stuck, and then be on his way.

So, that will be the next purchase...

Two rays of sunshine on the day, however... 1) he reminded a whole lot of my step-dad Pat, in the way he looked, his hair, his breathing. I just kind of watched him and smiled. Pat shows up in the strangest places!!! and 2) Since he was so late today, he offered to reduce his installation price from $65. He said he'd deduct the price of today's service call from that, which means it will only be about $20 for him to install it, if we choose to use him. That ain't too shabby!

So, a little positive in a slightly frustrating day. See, I'm trying!!!!!!

Oh Kelley :( I am sorry to hear that the repairs to the dishwasher weren't as easy as hoped. Sorry also that you had to wait so long for him. I am SOO Not good with waiting on people! Glad you were able to see those rays of sunlinght in the day still though! That always helps.
