Okay, here's one of my weird little quirky things: after I've been away from Chris (say at bunko or an all-day crop), I'm always so excited to get home and see him again. Often, I'd walk in and the "welcome home" reception wasn't what I was hoping for. No big bear hug and sweet kisses, just a normal hello. This would upset me, but really it was no fault of Chris'. He didn't know what I expected, or what I needed.
Because I had never let him KNOW what I needed.
I think as women, we tend to EXPECT our men to just instinctively know what we need to feel loved. And when they don't get it quite right, we get ticked off. How fair is that?
So, awhile ago, after arriving home to be let down by my "welcome home", I brought it up. Just explained what a perfect scenario would be for me. Yes, I realize that a few hours apart isn't all that much, but I want to know that my presence was missed. That I was missed. That he is happy to have me home again, safe and sound. Hopping up to give me a big hug and kiss, telling me he missed me, asking about my time spent away from him. Tops, a 5 minute show of affection, and I am feeling loved and wonderful.
And since then, he's been doing really wonderful. Now that he knows what I need, he is more than willing to meet that need.
Wednesday took the cake though...Wednesday was the most perfect "welcome home" yet. Wednesday, I spent a few hours playing bunko with my friends, and got home around 8:30 or so. Received a nice big hug, kiss, and conversation when I got home. We tucked Aspen in, and then we chatted a bit more. Finally, after being home for about an hour, I headed into the bathroom.
Sitting there, propped up against my makeup mirror, were three things: a bag of Cape Cod white cheddar popcorn (my absolute favorite!!!!!!!!!), a chocolate marshmellow snowman, and a card. The card was adorable, it had a detachable bookmark on the front which was perfect for me, the big reader. And inside, the card said "Our love was meant to be"...and Chris had written: I missed you this evening!!
So perfect.
This man has all of my love.

That was a really sweet thing he did. I love it when Kenneth does little things like that for me. It really IS the little things, isn't it?
