Here it is: It's really okay for SLENDER girls to want to lose some weight.
There. Think about that for a minute. Know anybody in your life that is smaller than you? And any time she mentions wanting to lose a few pounds, you give her that LOOK? That look that says, "why on earth do YOU need to lose weight?"
Case in point: a coworker has discovered that she has diabetes...and so she's trying to lose some weight. Announced on Monday that she had lost 19 pounds so far, and everyone was rejoicing with her, cheering her on, "Way to go Susie!!" Another coworker pipes in with the fact that I have also lost some weight, 5 pounds so far. And then there's silence. And the "looks". And the "where are you going to lose weight from, your big toe?" And let's not forget the best one: "I'm going to turn you in for anorexia!"
Seriously, people, nobody has a perfect body. We all want to make improvements. And even though I have a tall, slender frame, that doesn't mean that it's in the best shape it could be. When:
:: you are 15 pounds heavier than what you consider to be your normal weight...
:: your underwear no longer fits...
:: all of your clothes are either uncomfortably tight or no longer fit...
...I'd say that it's a safe bet you need to lose a little weight. Regardless of what anyone else thinks of your body or your desire to lose.
You can't compare your weight to anyone else's. Weight is a very personal thing, we all have a different number that makes us feel comfortable in our bodies. I don't want to be stick thin...I want to be COMFORTABLE in my body again.
So, I need to lose about 15 pounds and firm up. It's going to be just as hard for me to lose 15 pounds on my slender frame as it will be for someone heavier to lose 115. A little SUPPORT would be nice from the people around me! No more "looks", no more anorexia comments
It would sure be nice to hear instead, "Way to go Kelley! I know you can get rid of those last 10 pounds!!"

Amen sister.
It's these last few pounds that are killing me. Just a few pounds on my small frame is a lot.
I agree with Katherine, AMEN SISTER!!
I completely support you and I KNOW you are going to get those 10 pounds off like you want/need to. I have much more to loose then you, but that doesn't mean that it makes my weight loss any harder then yours, or any more important. If you are heavier now then you were just a few months ago, and our clothes no longer fit, I would say there is a problem. I am proud of you for realizing it now instead of thinking.. "Oh, it is only 10-15 pounds.." and then in a couple of months you weigh again and now instead of 'only' 10-15 it is closer to 30! I am here for you sister and I support and applaud you for taking care of yourself and getting back in to the body that makes you feel most like YOU!
Love ya!
mmmmm....I had this boss once who was the tiniest thing...and she went to Jenny Craig. She kept telling us that she needed to lose weight. I thought she was crazy...welllllll...she lost about 15 pounds, which was significant for her. And THEN, she got pregnant...turns out, she had been trying to conceive and had weighed around 15 pounds more than normal in the year or so I knew her. Her doc told her that for her cycles to go back to a predictable schedule and for her to conceive more easily, it would be good for her to get back to the weight she had maintain for her entire life up to that point...it worked!
On a side note...even the very thin can firm up and muscles are very sexy...so...I say work out like crazy girls! It good for the body, soul and mind!
OK, I'm sure I've been guilty of the "why do YOU need to lose weight" thing. {But in my defense when you lived here, you WERE underweight, according to your doctor} Anyway, I do agree wholeheartedly with Kim. If you are at a healthy, comfortable weight and your clothes begin getting too tight, it's time to act then, NOT when you have a lot more than 10-15 lbs. to lose. (Like me.)
I do support you completely in your efforts. You need to do whatever you need to feel better about yourself and comfortable in your own skin.
Now that I think of it, size is relative in it's own way. While I'd be thrilled to wake up at your size one morning, I've actually had people tell me they wish they could down to my size. (Because they were REALLY big.)
Oh!!! Tell Suzie to keep up the good work, I know she can do it!!
