a weekend in austin

Friday evening, we headed to Austin for the State Track Meet. I have never been to Austin, and wish we could've had a little more time there for some sight seeing. But, we had a good time and enjoyed the best track Texas has to offer.

It was HOT. 99 degrees. The stands were packed and there was no wind and we were all roasting. Sunscreen was futile. It was one of the hottest moments I can remember, except for the Linkin Park concert and our wedding day.

There were a number of kids from our school district running, and we knew a few of them. It was fun to have someone to cheer for. We also witnessed a few records being broken.

We enjoyed a $34 dollar concession stand lunch of burgers and fries (and chicken strips for Aspen). And lots and lots of liquid all day long.

Once the 1A and 3A races wrapped up, the 5A began for the evening session. We had planned to stay and watch some of the 5A, but considering our insides felt like they had been boiled down to mush by the heat, we called it a day.

We stopped at the outlet mall there before heading home. There were a lot of cool stores there, like Coach and Banana Republic, Ann Taylor and White House Black Market. I was so excited to go and find a good deal at Coach, but there wasn't really anything there that I liked. I was bummed. I did find some cute work clothes...a dress from White House Black Market; an adorable sleeveless shirt at Ann Taylor; and some khaki capris from Ann Taylor.

After a quick dinner at Chilis, we got on the road around 8:30...the drive and ride home seemed to take forever, and we pulled into the garage right about 1:00 am. We were all pooped.

I'd like to go back to Austin one day and see what all it has to offer!!!!

Did you go to the outlets in San Marcos or Austin? You will have to come back down there soon...I will be only 45 minutes from there. I would love to have a girls shopping trip!!!!
