thanksgiving & catch up

Hi there!! So, it's been a few days since I have posted...I have taken a little break and it's been so nice! We had a lovely Thanksgiving weekend here, four glorious days!

:: Thanksgiving: I made my pumpkin pie Wednesday evening, and it smelled soooooo good! Yum! Unfortunately, for me, pumpkin pie SMELLS so much better than it TASTES. I'm not a huge fan. But the rest of the family loved it! Thursday, we slept a little late and then Mimi and I worked out cooking magic for a delicous meal! She and I make a good team...we divide up the food, and it takes no time at all. I made the pumpkin pie, the greenbean casserole, the green jellow mush, the appetizers; Mimi made the potato salad, the pea salad, the ham. We decided to have ham because we had had so much turkey already (at work, at church...). Our meal was delicious and we enjoyed our family time together.

:: Thanksgiving Night / Black Friday: Thanksgiving evening, we headed to a friend's house. We had yet more food, and hung out for awhile. They had "Just Dance" for the Wii, and what a fun game that was!!! We had so much fun dancing around looking like fools! And then, when 10:00 hit, we headed out to join in the Black Friday madness!!! Walmart opened at 10:00 Thursday evening, so we headed there first. We had nothing in particular to buy there, but we enjoyed watching all the crazy people! The lines were ridiculous, and we heard that women were even punching each other over the $5.00 Barbies! Kohl's opened at midnight, we we headed there next. We stood in a line to get into the building that was all along the front of the building, and down half the parking lot. Crazy!! But, once the doors opened, it only took about 5 minutes for the line to enter the store. And then we started looking for some deals! We bought two dresses, a sweater, black boots, and a scarf for me; two dress shirts for Chris. The line took quite awhile, maybe an hour. We were with two ladies from work, so we had fun while we waited!!! From there, we headed to Target. That place was just as insane, and we honestly could not find any good deals there. We weren't sure what everyone was buying up by the cart-ful. The line there was all the way around the store. From there, while our friends waited in line, we went over to iHop and got a table for a 2:30 am breakfast! We were beginning to run out of steam by this point and needed fuel! After some yummy food, we made one last stop at Best Buy. By the time we got there, it was a dead zone...the mad rush was over, and we looked leisurely! We ended up buying Just Dance, and have been playing it ever since! :) We got home and into bed around 5:00 a.m. Chris slept for 3 hours and I slept for 4. Then we got back up and headed to the mall so we could hit the 40% off everything sale at Express!!! Got a suit jacket, a shirt, and a tank top for me, and Chris got two work shirts and two ties. All great deals! Hit a few other shops at the mall, and then decided we were too drained to continue!

:: Friday Evening: we were invited to go dancing with friends, so we got all dolled up and headed over to Guitars & Catillacs for some time on the dance floor! Chris and I had so much fun dancing...they would play 3 country songs and we'd do the two-step, and then 3 hip hop songs and we'd dance like fools. I am still learning the two-step, but I feel like I am getting better each time we do it. I loved this time with my sexy hubby...love that he'll dance with me!!! :) We got home around 12:30, and didn't get to bed until around 1:30. So another late night.

:: Saturday: slept late!!!! Chris got up, but ended up coming back to bed. Felt so good to catch up on some sleep that we'd lost the past two nights! Then, to make it an even better day, we watched New Moon and Eclipse (movie #2 and #3 of the Twilight Saga)...Chris even watched with us!!! Really enjoyed that time together...then we had dinner at Casa and did the grocery shopping in a very empty grocery store. Yayyyyyy!

:: Sunday: after church, we did laundry and cleaned the house...and then Aspen and I went to see Breaking Dawn (movie #4, part 1 of the Twilight Saga) with my girlies from work. We loved it!!!! So good!!! Can't wait for part 2 to come out next year!!!! But, then we'll be sad that it's over :(

It's been a very full four days, but it was fun and also relaxing. Now, it's back to work for two days, and then I am off Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Using up the last of my vacation time :) Looking forward to the short week...

I wanted to share a few photos with you...we bought some bar stools finally, for our kitchen bar. Love these!! And also wanted to share pics of our new pillows for the living room couches. We got rid of the boring chocolate brown pillows, and had some fun!!

I hope that you and your family had a lovely Thanksgiving!!!! We all have so much to be thankful for, so many blessings. Now, we're in the countdown to Christmas!
