fredericksburg for #7

We had in incredibly fun time on our anniversary trip to Fredericksburg for #7! It has always been a special place for us, since we were married there. We really love our time there. We usually go for a weekend, but this time we decided to go for about 4 days. That was even better, because we were less rushed to fit all of our favorite things in, and we were also able to branch out and try new restaurants and wineries. It was wonderful.

Friday, August 1 : We left after work, and arrived later that evening. We decided to grab a night cap at Lincoln Street, which is a wine bar that has a very nice outdoor patio that we love. It was a great start to our trip!

Lincoln Street is very cozy, with indoor and outdoor seating, as well as live music

Saturday, August 2 : We had a very full day! We walked the Main Street and looked through the shops that interested us. Had lunch at West End Pizza. Spent some lovely time on the member-only patio at Grape Creek. And then we enjoyed our reservation at August E's for our anniversary dinner -- amazing sushi! We had the Honolulu roll, the Dragon roll, and the Lobster Volcano. Delish!! Afterwards we had an after-dinner drink with our anniversary twins Susan and Randy! We met them last year, if you'll remember that story -- we ended up paying for their anniversary dinner, and they turned around and paid for our hotel room. It was so nice to actually get to know them a bit -- God has brought us into each other's lives for a reason :)

The Babers on the members-only patio at Grape Creek -- we relaxed and it was so nice. We chatted, we read a magazine/book, we listened to Jeff Wood live, we drank some delicious wine...
Jeff Wood plays frequently at Grape Creek and we always enjoys him -- I have two of his cds! He has a fantastic voice. This day, his gorgeous wife was there as well, and their big chocolate lab!
The members-only patio -- as members, we receive a free glass of wine at each visit, and 15% off anything else we might wish to purchase :)
This is how my non-relaxing husband relaxes :)
My sweet hubby amidst the Grape Creek grapes
We also visited a new winery -- Four Point O -- it was modern and very nice. We enjoyed our time there as well, rocking in the rockers and sharing some wine and chocolates!
The grass at Four Point 0 was incredibly green, it was insanely lucious!
Fredericksburg is full of beautiful scenery every direction you look -- little nooks and crannies to be discovered. This led to a very cool store that we had never been to before.
I loved this hot pink sculpture!

So much intricate detailing -- it makes me happy!

Sunday, August 3 : After breakfast at the hotel and watching our church service online, we headed out for another fun filled day! We took some photos at a beautiful catholic church there, and also at some other great places in town. We had lunch at The Brewery, which so so delicious! We tried out another new winery called Inwood, and then decided to head back out to Grape Creek again for a few hours of relaxing. To our delight, Jeff Wood was there again. He wasn't the one scheduled, but it worked out to our advantage. :) We then finished off at the Fiesta Winery, which was another new one to us. We really enjoyed it there! We then headed back to the hotel and went swimming and hot tubbing!! That was tons of fun and something we rarely do. Then off to dinner at a new place (to us) called Rathskeller which was incredible! Then finished off the date at Silver Creek for drinks and the goth bar Der Daiwel for coffee. Perfect day!

Monday, August 4 : Our "official" anniversary! We enjoyed our day immensely. We decided to have lunch (again) at The Brewery :) It's our favorite and we just can't get enough during one visit!! Afterwards, we visited William Chris Winery (ok wine but beautiful view and very friendly dog) and Messina Hof (decent wine but blah atmosphere). From there, had dinner at Mamacita's, then headed back to the hotel where our plan was to swim some more. On the way, we stopped to take some photos by the double decker bus, and a nice man in a truck stopped to take our photo. Then he suggested we head out to Luckenbach and after looking at the website we discovered that they had live music going. So we headed out there! And we were so thrilled that we did, because it was perfect. There were three people singing, and about 10 people in the audience. It was rustic and sweet, and my hubby asked me to dance quite a few times. It was a touching evening that filled my heart!! Afterwards, we stopped for coffee at the goth bar, and enjoyed petting our buddy Trinket there...she was a sweet dog. A beautiful, beautiful day with the love of my life. We also exchanged gifts...see those, below...

Soaking in the view at William Chris
7th anniversary is copper -- Chris did so good finding such perfect copper gifts for me! This is a fancy copper necklace with Swarovski crystals. I can't wait to wear it!!
This was my very favorite gift, it melted my heart!! The C & K is in copper, and the est. 07 is so sweet!!
This copper cuff is inscribed with a secret message inside -- Chris picked out the saying and he is truly amazing! I'm not sure how I got this lucky.
For Chris' copper gift, I found this great beer stein! It will keep his beer frosty cold!! I don't have a photo of it, but Chris' other gift is a fun excursion while we are in St. Louis in September!! We are going to head to Augusta to tour the wineries there, and then stay at an adorable bed and breakfast there called Apple Gate. He is going to love that!!! I have never been either, so it will be a great side trip.
This copper gift really, really made me smile -- as we were pulling out of Abilene, he gave me a card. And inside was this penny. The penny had the year of our marriage! He is so very thoughtful.
As a fun gift, he found this mug for me :) Most people probably won't understand it, but it is a reference from The Walking Dead (our favorite show)!! This really cracked me up!!
Have you ever heard of Luckenbach? If not, you should google it. It is where Willie Nelson plays. It is about as rustic as you will find. It's a pretty eclectic place and we had a great time there!
This is the goth bar -- the walls are black and the accents are red...they play loud heavy metal music. But it it is quite cozy and the people there are the friendliest we met in Fredericksburg.
Tuesday, August 5 : After breakfast at the hotel, Chris ran and then we packed up and headed out. Our first stop was to a bike shop in town, where Chris found himself a new mountain bike. He was very excited! He's been wanting to ride some trails with some friends, and now he is equipped. From there, we had a quick lunch at Dairy Queen and then, on our way out of town, we stopped at Trois Estate. Trois is the bed and breakfast where we had our wedding seven years ago, and we have not been back since that day. We wanted to go back out to see it and take a few photos. It was great to see it! So much is the same, yet they have built it up so much too. Then...the long road home...was so good to see our pups and the girls!!

The bike shop...Chris found his Trek.
A photo of us in front of the gate at Trois, that entered into the courtyard where our ceremony was held.
Reenacting a kiss in front of the blue doors...
The view from the rooftop above the courtyard, where our reception was held -- breathtaking view of Enchanted Rock...
The doorways and sculptures that we stood in front of during our vows...oh the memories!!
It was an absolutely amazing trip all the way around!!! We enjoyed every minute of it and I love that we are able to get away and do these things. I love that my husband cherishes me and is dedicated to showing me.
