Hi there!

:: Thursday from 8:00 - 1:00, we had our annual company-wide meeting. The theme this year was Wipe the Slate Clean, and we focused on Mind, Body, Soul as normal. We started with a good workout for Body. We did some kick boxing and then ended with yoga. It was great! Then we did Mind, and went over a book by Jim Collins called Good to Great...a panel discussed some survey answers we had done, and then each table did some brainstorming on how we can take our company from good to GREAT! And then we finished off with Soul -- David McQueen, who is the pastor at the church we go to, spoke to us on forgiveness. It was a great day! And of course, we were gifted many great things! We received an FDLIC duffel bag that is red and black with our logo on it, as well as two books for our Kindle. We ate a yummy lunch from Jason's Deli, and then headed back to work to finish out the day. Unfortunately, I had a pretty bad headache all day long. It bordered on a migraine, so that put a bit of a damper on the day for me.

:: Thursday evening, we enjoyed our end of year party at the Civic Center! The theme this year was western, and there was a wide range of attire to be sure! Some people wore costumes, some people wore some western, and others wore whatever they wanted! We had delicious food (beef tenderloin, green beans, mashed potatoes, corn bread) catered by Cypress Street. There was gambling (poker, black jack, roulette) and awesome prizes and dancing to the band Freeride. I played black jack and was hoping to win something good -- but alas, no winning for me :( It was fun to gamble though, with fake money! My migraine was able to hold steady for the night, thankfully, even with the crazy loud music.

Me and my cowboy! Jeans and boots for Chris, white flouncy skirt and boots for me, plus western shirts with pearl snap buttons. I also work a black cowboy hat! I'm excited to see the professional photos, there was an old fashioned buggy for the setting!
Jon and Nadene -- they rented costumes from a local college's drama department.
Mr. Neeley was an "Official Brothel Inspector" and John was an old fashioned bartender!
Vanessa (on the right) is in my department -- she was a spanish senorita. Her sister was an adorable cowgirl!
Mrs. Baxter was an old school marm! She rented her costume from the college as well.
Me and my black jack buddy Kim :) We had fun playing together, though our dealer was a bit too raunchy for our liking!
:: Friday, we had Santa Kris at work, where our CEO gives us our tenure bonuses ($100 for every year worked at FDLIC -- I've been there 13 and Chris 15!) and our Christmas hams/turkeys. That evening, Chris and I had dinner at Joe's -- pizza and calzones. It was yummy! Then we headed home to relax after a very crazy busy week.

:: Saturday, Chris went to the gun range to take his CHL (concealed handgun license) class. He passed the shooting test, and the written test too. It was about an 7 hour day for him. Meanwhile, I puttered around the house. I got all of the laundry done, and made the grocery list. I wrapped presents. I listened to Christmas music all day long. When Chris got home, we went for dinner at a new place in town called The Taphouse. It was our second time there, and it was good. We did the grocery shopping and then headed home. I bought all of our stuff for Christmas Eve snacks and Christmas Day lunch.

:: Sunday, David preached a great lesson, and then Chris and Mimi went to do a little Christmas shopping together. I headed home and enjoyed some quiet time with the pups. I did some cleaning, and then once everyone was home, Mr. Neeley came by to exchange Christmas gifts. Fun fun!! Now, we are wrapping up our weekend. We're having leftovers for dinner and then Chris and I will have our book study together. Looking forward to that!

:: Update on Aspen (real talk here): her first semester of college didn't go well. She ended up failing all 4 classes (strictly due to laziness and lack of attendance, I am certain). She won't be going back. She plans to go full time at Dillards. She is a bit lost right now, and is making some poor life decisions. She has moved out and is now living with her boyfriend and his parents (he is still in high school). So, we are not sure what her future holds. If you could say some consistent, intense prayers for her, we would appreciate that.

:: Hopefully it will be a quiet week ahead! Chris and I are off on Wednesday for Christmas Eve. We'll be going to the 3:15 Christmas Eve service at church, and then we'll come home for snacks and gifts. Looking very forward to our holiday!
