Stitch Fix #12 Review

For my 12th Fix from Stitch Fix, I requested my normal, fabulous stylist, Kallie!! And here is what I requested:

:: No jewelry, scarves or bags
:: Some shirts with full long sleeves (no 3/4)
:: Some items for our upcoming trip to Cancun

Pretty vague -- I like to let her surprise me sometimes!! I did not find this to be my favorite fix ever, but I am okay with that...I don't need to love 5/5 for me to be happy. I do have gift card credit to use, and it is just burning a hole in my pocket...but, I will spend it eventually!!

And let me preface this by saying -- my normal, hunky photographer was otherwise engaged (out of town, and then lots of outside chores), so I didn't bother him for pictures this Fix...I took some selfies in my full length mirror, which just aren't as good! Just made me realize how fortunate I am to have him available most months!!

Let's dive in!

Kut from the Kloth : Corynne Distressed Boyfriend Short
These denim shorts were certainly cute! And they fit great too! But, these were a NO for a few reasons. First, I have a handful of basic denim shorts already, and have no need for another basic pair. Second, these are a tad too long for my tastes...I have a long torso, BUT my legs are fairly short in comparison...and this length just really cuts them off at a weird place. I'm not opposed to receiving shorts, but I would much prefer a fun, bright color or a fun (but not TOO crazy) pattern! VERDICT : RETURNED.

Kut from the Kloth : Piere Faux Leather Jacket
This jacket is actually quite luscious! The material is leather-like, but not cheap feeling at all. The price on this was a little higher than I would normally spend in a Fix, but I felt that the quality definitely matched it. This jacket is one that I had recently pinned on Pinterest from a review I had seen -- the color just makes my heart pitter patter!! It is a gorgeous light mint color, and has gold details. Right up my alley. Here's the thing though...while I loved it out of the box, it really didn't look great on me. The fit was just a little too short and fitted, and the collar was a bit odd. It didn't look great unzipped either. And who was I kidding, thinking I could pull off a mint leather jacket?? It's just not me unfortunately :( It's always fun to try something a little outside your box though. I did give this one some serious thought. VERDICT : RETURNED.

Loveappella : Carlita Multi Chevron Print Maxi Dress
I am a fan of maxi dresses, and was excited to receive one -- perfect for Cancun! This maxi, in particular, had a great length. I find that often, maxis just are way too long -- this was 100% perfect. However, this maxi didn't suit me for a few reasons. First, the color. Purple is not in my top faves, and will never be something I gravitate toward. Second, the pattern. Chevron is just too overdone I think, and I have enough in my closet. No more! Third, the top section. It was a bit loose, and made my chest seem bigger than it is...and I actually typically prefer a smaller look. And finally, the waist...there is a band that goes around right below the breasts, and it hit me at a very odd spot. It made my stomach pooch out underneath it, which is never attractive. My torso is long and I have difficulty cutting it off in the middle. A fit and flare style with no defined waist is much better on me. Even a drop waist is better. VERDICT : RETURNED.

Papermoon : Kacey Lace Detail Blouse
Though I am not always a fan of a solid shirt, this one spoke to me. Kallie really paid attention to my Pinterest board with this one, because I had posted a lot of examples of this kind of shoulder cut and this kind of lace detail. Thank you Kallie! My shoulders are my favorite body part, and the area that looks the most defined...and this kind of neckline/shoulder line helps accentuate it. Love that! The little peep hole is cute but also still modest. Good. And the lace detail is just enough. Not too excessive, which could be a bit much on me. Just right. I've included a closeup of the detail, as well. This color is a darker version of one of my faves, and definitely doable. Happy happy! My only dilemma now is to figure out what kind of bra to wear with it...hmmm. I hate strapless!! VERDICT : KEPT!!

MTLA : Wenn Pullover Sweater
In asking for long sleeves, I had actually expected shirts instead of sweaters. But I wasn't opposed to this sweater. Again, Kallie paid attention to my Pinterest board because I have a LOT of stripes on there. Here are my thoughts on this one. I like the scoop, open neckline. I like the stripes a lot, but not necessarily the red and white together (too 4th of July for me). The fit was perfect, but with a sweater like this I would prefer to have it be a bit more loose and comfy...more snuggly. The material was a bit scratchy...not too cozy. VERDICT : RETURNED.

So, there we have it! #12 is in the books, and I have already scheduled #13!

Awww. I can't believe you are sending the maxi dress back. It flatters your frame. Great fix! :)
